*Planning permission news*
It's been recommended that we should access pre-planning advice with Trafford MBC, which will help to overcome future issues should they arise.
The cost (£4500) for this process is not covered by our current funding stream so we are in the market for some additional grants and help from generous local businesses to move the project on

Our new community centre will include a purpose built yoga/pilates studio. A serene space that will be flexibly used (see what i did there?) by a number of different groups. It was good to catch up with this Pilates class today to explain some of the details.

Somebody asked me where the building would be located - This will be on the corner of Firsway and Manor Avenue.

I was also asked when we think building work would start... it is quite difficult to predict but we hope to take the project for planning permission this Autumn and be in a position to start construction in 2023.

Chatting to visitors at the Sunshine Cafe about our plans for the new community centre at Sale West.

Some of the questions asked today:

Who will own the new centre?
The owners of the building will be the members of the community benefit society; a group of individuals and organisations that have invested a minimum of £10 (or £100 for organisations). The new centre will not be owned by the council or a housing association.

What will happen to the existing community centre?
We have not had official confirmation from Trafford Council about the future plans for the building although we expect it to close due to all activities and services being relocated to the new building

Any more questions - just ask!

Some members of the Firs Community Benefit Society took part in a workshop with other RCD funded projects at Leigh Spinners Mill - a Community Benefit Society like ourselves that have taken ownership and are repurposing a Mill in their town. The workshop was about measuring the impact of our community work and was also attended by Chadderton sports club and Langley community benefit society who are creating their own community led housing development. If you are interested in getting involved in future learning please get in touch, these opportunities are open to all society members:
