AskTahmid Lost my brother and sister 6 years ago. Now I share what loss, trauma, and the science of healing actually look like.
🫂 You're not alone in this.

https://bio.site/asktahmid I started The Grief Thread after losing my little sister to an overdose and my brother to suicide. For a long time, I didn’t know where to put the love I still had for them. So I built this space — for myself, and for anyone still carrying someone they didn’t get to keep. The name comes from the idea that grief doesn’t just go away. It becomes a thread in our lives — sometimes visible, sometimes tucked beneath the surface, but always there. It connects us to who we lost. And to others who understand. Every item in this shop is designed to honour that thread. To give shape to the memory. To say what still hurts. To remind you that you're not alone. Whether you’re wearing something, gifting something, or quietly keeping it close —
I hope it brings you some connection, some comfort, and a way to keep weaving your own grief story forward. Thank you for being here.

One of the hardest parts of losing someone is realising how many conversations you’ll never get to have with them.

Since losing my brother and sister, there have been so many moments when I’ve wished I could just tell them what I’ve been up to.

The places I’ve travelled, the people I’ve met, the things I’m building. Even the little everyday things that probably wouldn’t mean much to anyone else.

Sometimes I wonder what they’d think of the person I’ve become, or what they’d say if they could see my life now.

And I think that’s something people don’t always understand about grief. You don’t just miss the memories you made together. You grieve all the memories you’ll never get to make.

That’s part of why I created Afterglow. A place where the people we’ve lost can still have their stories told, their memories shared, and their lives remembered.

Afterglow is now open! ❤️

Sometimes, when you’re struggling, it can feel like you’re the only person in the world who feels this way. But you’re not.

Sometimes all it takes is opening up about what you’re going through to realise just how many people are carrying similar feelings and experiences.

You might be surprised by how many people understand what you’re going through, even those you least expect.

This quote was shared with me by MissPatientA who wanted it posted in loving memory of her mum. Today would have been her anniversary ❤️ Thank you for allowing me to share it. I hope it reaches someone who needs to hear these words today.

And that’s part of why i am building Afterglow. A place where you can talk openly about grief, connect with others who understand, and make sure the people we’ve lost are never forgotten.

Some grief is loud. Some grief barely makes a sound.

Not everyone cries in front of people. Not everyone talks about the person they lost. Some people go to work, reply to messages, laugh with friends and look completely “fine” while carrying something incredibly heavy underneath it all.

Grief doesn’t have to look a certain way to be real.

So be gentle with people. You never really know what someone is carrying when they go quiet.

And if you’re grieving too, you don’t have to perform your pain for it to matter.

Sometimes the words that reach us most are the ones that come from someone who has already been where we are.

If you’ve lived through a time when you genuinely didn’t know how you were going to keep going, what helped you make it to the other side?

What would you tell the version of yourself who was still there?

Leave it in the comments. Someone reading your words today might need them more than you realise. 🤍

And if grief is part of what you’re carrying, Afterglow is a place to remember the people you’ve lost, share what you’re going through, and connect with others who understand.

I like to think that the people we’ve lost are still talking about us somewhere.

That when a memory suddenly comes to mind, or we find ourselves thinking about them for no particular reason, maybe it’s their way of reminding us that the love is still there.

Of course, we can’t know what happens after death. But sometimes it’s comforting to imagine that while we’re down here remembering them, they’re somewhere remembering us too.

And even if that’s not how it works, one thing I do know is that their stories don’t have to end when their lives do. We can keep their memories alive by talking about them, sharing their stories and remembering the little things that made them who they were. 💛

That’s why we’re building Afterglow, a place where grief can be shared, people can connect through loss, and those we’ve lost can always be remembered.
