📣 WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT 📣

Semi Professional / Professional Best Urbanscape Winner: Mark Owen

Mark returned to paint in The Spirit of Malvern for a second year and once again impressed the judges — and the locals — with a piece that captured the iconic cross on Church Street incorporating everthing from shop fronts to street furniture. He has a knack for seeking out the details and corners of the town that really speak to people who live here.

We’re curious Mark, do you research your locations before the event, or do you just wing it on the day?

Thanks for joining us again, and a massive congratulations on your win

📣 WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT! 📣

Best Professional/Semi-Professional Landscape goes to Greta Vilidaite for her breathtaking view from the Malvern Hills!

This prize was proudly sponsored by the Dame Laura Knight Society.

Greta’s painting caught our attention with its luminous palette and confident brushwork – but it’s that sense of space and distance that really stays with you. The way the landscape opens up beyond the rooftops is beautifully handled.

Greta, we’d love to hear more about your process – were there any memorable moments while painting this piece?

Congratulations on your winning piece 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Did you know it takes a small army of volunteers to bring the Spirit of Malvern: On Plein Air event to life?

From the high-vis heroes you spotted on the day, to the graphic designers, digital marketers, photographers, videographers, interviewers, leaflet distributors, web editors, fundraisers and more—there are hundreds of behind-the-scenes tasks that go into making an event like this happen.

We want to say a huge thank you to every single person who gave their time, skills, and energy—whether it was a little or a lot - it all mattered.

A special mention must go to Kim Whitby, who has been the driving force behind this event for the past two years. Without her vision, creativity, and fierce tenacity, the Spirit of Malvern simply wouldn’t exist. She’s brought this idea to life and led it with unwavering dedication, and we’re endlessly grateful.

Please join us in celebrating all of our volunteers—this magical day wouldn’t have happened without them. Drop your appreciation emojis below to show them some love!

A big big thank you to everyone who helped make it happen!

👏🏻🥂
