A huge thank you to E&AR Agar Funeral Directors for visiting Sight Support Ryedale - New earlier this week and treating our members to a wonderful performance on the Charity Organ.

With the sun shining and the music playing, there was plenty of singing, dancing and smiles all around. It was a lovely afternoon and such a special treat for our members to enjoy together.

Join us for our Combined Friendship Group on Monday 17 August, 11 - 3 at Sight Support Ryedale in Norton.

This is a special combined session, bringing members from our Norton and Middleton & Aislaby groups together. It’s a great opportunity to catch up with friends, meet other members and enjoy a friendly afternoon together.

Our Friendship Groups are a relaxed and supportive space to chat, share experiences, make new friends and enjoy peer support.

Have you ever wanted to learn Braille?

We’re launching a new series of beginner Braille workshops, designed for people living with sight loss who would like to learn the basics of Braille in a friendly and supportive environment.

The workshops will introduce you to the Braille alphabet, numbers and simple words, helping you build confidence at your own pace. No previous experience is needed.

These workshops are the perfect first step for anyone interested in progressing to digital Braille technology in the future, as understanding the fundamentals of Braille will help you get the most from digital Braille devices.

We had a fantastic session yesterday at the Friendship Group at Norton Hive, where Nicole demonstrated the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses.

We hope everyone left feeling they had learned something new about this exciting technology and how it could support people living with vision loss.

A reminder that we'll also be demonstrating the Ray-Ban Meta glasses tomorrow at the Friendship Group at Middleton and Aislaby Village Hall, Pickering. If you're interested in finding out more, we'd love for you to join us!

A big thank you to Quickline!

We’re grateful to Amelia and everyone at Quickline for their generous donation of tablets to support our Digital Inclusion project.

These devices will help people living with sight loss in Ryedale develop digital skills, build confidence with technology and stay connected with family, friends and their local community.
