It’s so wonderful to see our amazing volunteer Maggie speaking about her experience with us.

Her support is invaluable and her talent for crafts is incredible - there’s honestly nothing she can’t do!

A huge thank you to Maggie for giving her time, creativity and dedication to the groups. She’s such an important part of our community and we’re so glad she feels valued and is also gaining something meaningful for herself along the way, because that’s just as important as a volunteer.

We’re so lucky to have you, Maggie and thank you to Community First Yorkshire for shining a well-deserved spotlight on our amazing volunteer.

💭 “It is great to show visually impaired people that they can create something, especially when they think that their sight loss stops them.”

In our latest volunteer blog, Maggie shares her experience volunteering with Sight Support Ryedale.

By supporting craft groups, social sessions and excursions, Maggie helps people with sight loss feel confident, capable and included - showing that creativity and connection are always possible.

At the same time, volunteering has helped Maggie improve her own wellbeing, build friendships and find purpose. Her story is a powerful example of how volunteering delivers meaningful outcomes for people and communities alike.
