Join us for the Sight Support Ryedale - New AGM!

We’d love you to join us for our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday 19 October, 12.30 - 3.30 PM at Pickering Memorial Hall.

It’s a chance to hear about our achievements over the past year, the difference our members, volunteers, staff and trustees have made and our plans for the future.

There will also be time to catch up with other members, meet our team and trustees, enjoy lunch and refreshments and take part in our tombola with some lovely prizes!

When: Monday 19 October 2026
Arrival: From 12 PM
AGM: 12.30 – 1.30 PM
Lunch and social time: From 1.30 PM
Where: Pickering Memorial Hall, Potter Hill, Pickering, YO18 8AA

There is very limited parking outside the hall, but there is parking available nearby, including opposite Pickering Library.

We’re excited to announce that, thanks to the generosity of HumanWare, Sight Support Ryedale - New has received a Hark AI device on loan for three months.

Hark AI proved incredibly popular at our National Eye Health Week community event, with demonstrations taking place throughout the day and lots of interest from visitors.

Hark AI is an innovative assistive technology designed to support people with sight loss by reading printed text aloud. Whether it’s a book, letter, greetings card, menu, prescription label or postcard, Hark AI can quickly recognise and read the information, helping people access everyday printed materials with greater confidence and independence.

During the three-month loan period, our members will have the opportunity to see Hark AI in action, explore its features and discover how this exciting technology could support them in everyday life.

All in a day’s work for our Chief Officer, Victoria Dean!

Getting out of her comfort zone is all part of the job and once again Vicky found herself in the PR hot seat, this time chatting to Coast and County Radio.

Vicky has been busy raising awareness of sight loss and highlighting the support, services and opportunities available across Ryedale. This time, she was talking about our recent National Eye Health Week event.

We had a fantastic day and hope everyone who joined us enjoyed it as much as we did!
