Munro Rock Tour

Munro Rock Tour Welcome to a charity challenge/social experiment! We're aiming to send a piece of rock from Skye's Inaccessible Pinnacle, to all of Scotland's Munros.

The journey will be completed by different people who've met on hills, exploring the power of connection

Day 1, 13/06/25: Luinne Bheinn and Meall Bhuidhe, Inverie, Knoydart.

An iconic location for the start of this wee experiment. After a 4 hour drive up to Mallaig on the Thursday evening, it was into the Inverie ferry at 0730. After setting up camp by the beach, I set off up the glen for Luinn Bheinn, hoping to avoid the worst of early wind by staying low. After meeting the highland cows at the loch I ascended Luinn Bheinn in the rain and wind. It cleared just in time for summit views. It stayed clear but windy over to Meall Bhuidhe before the cloud came in. I met one person all walk, and Irishman who I later met again in the pub.

It was a wet and windy descent and by trying to avoid the bracken I ended up downstream of the river crossing point so got wet feet instead of going back up.

Back down to the camp site for dinner but the midges soon became unbearable. I took refuge in the camp site hut, where others were doing the same, planning the following day's trip. I got talking to a young mountain guide called Chris and we shared jokes at the expense of the ginger Danish guy who was all over social media that day for disrespecting the Scottish countryside and entire Scottish nation.

Anyway, I told Chris about the project and he gladly took responsibility for the next Munro...

£20 donated to Mountain Rescue.

KICKING OFF THIS WEEKEND:

Welcome to a charity challenge and social experiment to see if we can send a piece of rock from Skye's Inaccessible Pinnacle, on a bootlace necklace, to all of Scotland's Munros. The journey will be completed by different people who've met on the hills, exploring the power of connection in the hiking community.

Each rock carrier/participant is to donate (recommended) £10 for each Munro climbed, with the aim of raising at least £2,820.

Donations to support those undertaking the challenge are also welcome/encouraged.

The challenge was set up to say thank you to Mountain Rescue for keeping us safe on the hills and raise some money to help support them.

It will also be a lot of fun for those involved and an opportunity to make new connections.

This page has been set up to track the journey, as once it is given over to someone else, we need a way of tracking where it has been.

Just giving page for participants/donators:
