Friday afternoon saw some of our cadets and staff visit Thorpe lakes for a bit of aqua park fun!

Everyone had a blast especially the cadets getting one back on some of the staff and managing to get some of them in the water!

⚓ Sea Cadets Weymouth Week 2026! ⚓

While our Marine Cadets were away, our Blue Jackets were making the most of their own Summer Camp in Weymouth! 🌊☀️

The week was packed with activities including cooking, water activities and plenty of team tasks, all helping our cadets build confidence, teamwork and resilience. 💪🤝

And, as you can see from some of our cadets… not everything stayed clean! 😂🌊

A fantastic week, full of challenges, fun and memories. A huge BZ to all our cadets and staff who made the week such a success! 👏⚓

🚑 FIRST AID TRAINING IN ACTION! 🩹

It’s been a busy weekend at the Unit!

Our staff and Senior Cadets have been getting hands-on with First Aid training, updating their qualifications, refreshing essential knowledge and learning the latest techniques for dealing with injuries and emergencies.

Being prepared is a key part of what we do, and keeping these important skills up to date means our team can be ready to step up and help when it matters.

Summer Camp 2026 – West Down Camp

Our Royal Marine Cadets had a fantastic Summer Camp 2026 at West Down Camp on Salisbury Plain this August.

During the camp, cadets took part in a challenging and rewarding Field Package, delivered by our dedicated Field Team and led by skilled and experienced staff. The package provided cadets with opportunities to develop teamwork, leadership, fieldcraft, discipline and resilience in a structured and fully supervised environment.

Cadets also took part in Armed Drill practice, developing discipline, precision, teamwork and confidence under the guidance of skilled instructors.

Alongside this, cadets participated in Physical Training (PT) delivered by skilled experts in their respective fields, helping them build fitness, determination, resilience and team spirit.

Cadets were also taught weapons handling as part of a structured, fully supervised training programme delivered by qualified Skill at Arms Instructors, with a strong emphasis on safety and responsible use.

A fantastic week of learning, challenge, teamwork and new experiences. Well done to all our cadets and staff who made Summer Camp 2026! BZ!

📢 A Message from your Commanding Officer 📢

Hi everyone,

Just a quick message to let you know that the Unit will be closed during the week commencing Monday 10th August 2026, which means that both Parade Nights that week — Tuesday 11th and Friday 14th August — will be cancelled.

I think you’ve all earned a bit of a break! You’ve been working incredibly hard, getting stuck into activities, training and everything else that comes with being a Cadet, so this is a chance for you all to have some well-earned rest and time to yourselves. You deserve it!

While you’re enjoying the break, we won’t be putting our feet up completely! We’ll be using the time to carry out some much-needed maintenance and improvements around the Unit. Some of it will be the usual routine jobs, but we’re also giving a few areas a bit of a face-lift 👀🛠️

I’m not going to give too much away just yet, but stay tuned to find out more... 😉

Enjoy your time off, have a good rest, and I look forward to seeing you all back at the Unit refreshed and ready for more adventures!

Running: Monday 20 July to Friday 28 Aug 2026

What is it?
The Junior Summer Camp Virtual Opportunity is open to all Junior Sea Cadets who wish to take part in a range of online modules available Monday to Friday over a six-week period during July and August. 1 module will be released each day.

Flexible Participation
Juniors can choose which days they would like to participate in. There is no requirement to open every session, so they can join as many or as few days as they wish.

Recording Their Participation
Juniors are encouraged to record their learning and experiences from the modules they complete in a scrapbook or by using the logbook templates, or both combined.

Template pages will be provided as attachments for draw down from the enrolment course, much the same as you see this Parent/carers information page. You can print them as you need them.

Alternatively, juniors can create their own scrapbook from scratch to document their journey through the modules they choose to take part in.

Cost
There is no cost to participate, as all activities are accessed virtually.

Parents/carers MUST consent through the Sea Cadets Portal prior to the link being sent out. No consent, no link.

Module submission:
At the end of summer juniors take their log pages or scrapbook and request that their junior instructor record the activities in their Junior Sea Cadet Experience record. If the activity shows sufficient evidence of participation and understanding (this is determined by your unit Junior Instructor) the activities will be counted towards your coloured badges and STEM badge.
