Today, after a dive into the BBC archive with a feature from Top Gear by Angela Rippon many years ago, we were delighted to hear Vernon Kay on Radio 2 this morning saying what we have always believed ... driving isn't about driving for you, it is about driving for others and keeping everyone safe.

Meanwhile East Hants Police have their hands full with a wannabe racing driver 🤣

🚨 SPEEDING INCIDENT – PETERSFIELD 🚨

While PC Bell was patrolling in Petersfield, a notorious speedster was spotted tearing up Sandringham Road on 12/04/2026 at around 16:10…

After a brief pursuit (lights 🚓 flashed, siren 🎵 blipped), the suspect was successfully stopped without issue.

The driver was found to be of previous good character, and firmly denied all allegations by smiling from ear to ear.

Words of advice were given, no points were issued, and the incident ended with one VERY happy young motorist who absolutely loved his “pull over”!

A huge thank you to the family who sent us such a lovely message and photos – it’s great to know our officers made someone’s day.

Drive safe… even on the smallest of wheels 😉

⚠️THIS IS WHY YOU GET OUT THE VEHICLE WHEN IT BREAKS DOWN ON THE HARD SHOULDER ⚠️

In the early hours of this morning encountered what used to be a Citroen Berlingo on the hard shoulder of the

After suffering electrical failure, the driver of this van did well to get it to the hard shoulder. All occupants then made the right choice to get themselves out the van and up onto the embankment and to a safe location behind the barrier before contacting emergency services.

They were cold, they were getting rained on, but they were safe.

Well done to the driver and passengers for choosing safety over comfort.

This choice proved literally life saving as the Citroen was then struck by a HGV that had strayed into the hard shoulder, turning it into the mess you see in the photographs. The HGV driver is now being investigated and may find themselves before a magistrate.

To be blunt, they are quite fortunate to not find themselves in custody having seriously injured or killed someone.
