Maidenhead WI Part of the Berkshire Federation of Women's Institutes. The meetings take place on the 3rd Thursday of every month (except August).

Doors open at 7.15pm and the meeting runs from 7.30-9.15pm, at St Edmund Campion Church Hall, Altwood Road, Maidenhead SL6 4PY

Our meetings are varied and include a mix of speakers and activities to suit all tastes. We also run 3 Book Clubs, a Craft Group, a Walking Groups and two lunch clubs throughout the year. Do contact us at [email protected] to arrange a visit and for further details regarding membership.

SPEAKER: GENEVIEVE USHER
TOPIC: “Classics of Note” - including music from opera, lieder and operetta. Member Genevieve is a classically trained soprano and she will be sharing her passion for this music in her presentation.
TIME: 7.15pm for 7.30pm start.

This meeting is open to guests and prospective members for a visitor fee of £5.00. Please contact our Secretary prior to the meeting at [email protected] uk if you would like to attend so catering arrangements can be made.

There will be our usual fabulous raffle, collection of recycling items, excellent produce table and amazing cake and tea and coffee! We will be holding our usual ‘Pennies for Flowers’ and collecting filled bottles ( anything from tomato sauce to champagne) for the local Taplow Court Fair.

SPEAKER: KAMRAN IRANI
TOPIC: “Blood Bikers” or the official charity name SERV OBN.
These are emergency volunteer bike riders who provide an out-of-hours rapid response service to the NHS across Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire. Urgent blood products, medical supplies, medical equipment and human donor milk can be delivered free of charge to the NHS during times when other transport options may be limited such as nights, weekends and public holidays. Come and hear more about these amazing bikers whose charity was awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2020 in recognition for the fantastic work they carry out.
TIME: 7.15pm for 7.30pm start.

The meeting is open to guests with a visitor fee of £5.00 per person. Please contact our secretary prior to the meeting at [email protected] if you would like to attend so catering arrangements can be made.

We will be holding our usual amazing raffle, collecting recycling items ( pharmacy blister packs) and offering goods from our produce table ( veg, fruit, preserves and crafts) in return for a donation. We will also be holding our competition “Pennies for Flowers”. Last but not least we have fantastic cake, coffee and tea for everyone together with a very warm welcome to both prospective members and visitors.

SPEAKER: Richard Poad from Maidenhead Heritage Museum who will give a presentation based on “Three Men in a Boat” and how much has or hasn’t changed since 1889 on the river.

We are so very proud of our special member Sue for all her volunteering she has done and still does at our local Thames Hospice. What a record!

Meet Sue, the welcoming face of the Hospice for 33 years

Sue first came to arrange flowers but soon became a regular volunteer, supporting patients, visitors, and staff in many roles as the Hospice has grown and changed over the years. From reception duties to helping around the building, Sue has been a steady and reliable presence throughout.

WI Member Achievements

In 2024, Lucy Crowhurst of Maidenhead WI, Berkshire Federation ran the London Marathon. Lucy and her daughter Katie, achieved the Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon run by a visually impaired mother and daughter – and then broke it again in 2025! Incredible!!

TIME: 7.15pm for 7.30pm start.
TOPIC: "Bystanders can be Lifesavers" an interactive presentation on how everyone can work together to increase public confidence and training in the delivery of CPR and to work to help improve access to defibillators in the community.

We will be holding our usual raffle and collecting recyclables and of course serving our amazing range of cakes with tea and coffee! The WI celebrates its 110 birthday in September so we will be celebrating that as well!

We have moved our venue and when we meet!

We will now be meeting on the third THURSDAY evening of every month (except in December).
