π§‘Today we say a fond farewell to our wonderful Sarah as she finishes her time with Mid Ulster Volunteer Centre and InVOLve House. π
Sarah's journey with us began in September 2014 as a volunteer at the Magherafelt Base. Looking back, it has been an absolute privilege to watch her grow in confidence and become the amazing person she is today.
Sarah often spoke about how volunteering changed her life. When she first came to us, she wanted to get involved in her community after a difficult time in her life. She described her first day volunteering as "frightening", with her goal simply being to stay and not run home. Week by week, thanks to the warm welcome she received, she grew in confidence, discovered new friendships, found a real sense of purpose and became "a better version of me."
Over the years, Sarah became one of our most dependable volunteers, always willing to lend a hand and go the extra mile. She supported adults with learning disabilities through arts and crafts, used her Makaton skills to help others communicate, led online Zoom sessions during lockdown to keep service users connected, volunteered at countless events and became the friendly face on reception at InVOLve House.
Her dedication and commitment led her to become an employee with our Forever Young project and later Caretaker at InVOLve House, where she welcomed everyone with her warm smile, prepared rooms for community groups and helped ensure InVOLve House remained a welcoming space for all.
Sarah's journey is a wonderful reminder of the power of volunteering. It not only changes communitiesβit changes lives. We have watched her develop into a confident, caring and compassionate woman who has inspired so many people along the way.
Sarah, thank you for everything you have given to Mid Ulster Volunteer Centre, InVOLve House and the countless people whose lives you have touched. We couldn't be prouder of everything you have achieved.
As you begin this exciting new chapter, know that you will always be part of the Mid Ulster Volunteer Centre family. We wish you every success and happiness in your new adventure.
I'm incredibly proud of you. Thank you for everything. β€οΈ
