A huge thank you to everyone who made the recent road safety event such a success: Mid Ulster Area Youth Service Magherafelt Youth Centre, Police Mid Ulster, NIFRS, and Translink.

Most importantly, thank you to the P7 pupils who participated with such enthusiasm. It was a privilege to collaborate with our partners to deliver these essential workshops. Ensuring our young people have the skills and confidence they need as they transition to secondary school.

🔥 ARE YOU ELIGIBLE FOR A FREE HOME FIRE SAFETY CHECK? 🔥

Did you know that if you’re aged 60 or over, or if you have a disability, impaired mobility, or a health condition that could affect your ability to detect or respond to an emergency at home, you may be entitled to a FREE Home Fire Safety Check from the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service.

🏠 What is a Home Fire Safety Check?
Firefighters from your local station will visit your home, offer personalised fire safety advice, and make sure you have a working smoke alarm in place.
This service is completely free and designed to help you feel safer and more confident in your home.

📞 How to request a visit:
Call 028 9266 4221
NIFRS will then contact you to arrange a suitable time. They aim to complete all referrals within 28 days, depending on operational commitments.

Looking forward to the Mid Ulster Area Youth ServiceMagherafelt Safety Event 2026 with P7s pupils from Holy Family PS, Magherafelt Primary School and Spires Integrated Primary School on Thursday 11th June 2026.
This is a multi agency event focused on keeping young people safe as they prepare for their move to post‑primary. It will be delivered in partnership with Police Mid Ulster Translink Bus Services, Northern Ireland Fire Service, and Mid Ulster PCSP.

Pupils will take part in interactive workshops covering:
🛑 Bus Safety
🛑 Road Safety
🛑 The Role of Emergency Services
A brilliant opportunity for learning, confidence‑building, and preparing for the journey ahead. 🚍🚓🚒

We are delighted to be welcoming P7s from Holy Family PS, Magherafelt Primary School and Spires Integrated Primary School to the centre on Thursday 11th June 2026 for our Safety Event.

This programme is a co design programme which serves as a transitional programme as P7s make the move to Year 8 in September.

This was a multi agency event delivered in partnership with Mid Ulster PCSP, Police Mid Ulster, Translink Bus Services and Northern Ireland Fire Service.

This event provided young people with 3 workshops;

🛑 Bus Safety
🛑 Road Safety
🛑 Role of Emergency Services

Thank you also to all the facilitators for helping to make this event possible. Successful partnership working enables young people in the Magherafelt DEA receive these important safety messages. 🙌

Keeping our community safe, together. 🤝
There was a fantastic turnout at the Glenavon Hotel yesterday for the Crime Prevention event tailored for the Mid Ulster Asian Business Community.
Police Mid Ulster CID shared vital insights into past burglary patterns to help understand the "how" and "when."
This was followed up with practical, actionable advice on Home, Personal, and Business safety.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended! We hope the crime prevention packs and forensic marking kits help you feel more secure.
