Many people who regularly help others do not identify themselves with the term "carer," but are still entitled to support.

If you are providing regular, substantial care, you have legal rights in Northern Ireland. Key resources and forms of support include: Carer's Assessment: You have the legal right to request a Carer's Assessment from your local Health and Social Care (HSC) Trust. This evaluates your needs and determines what support such as respite breaks or equipment that you are entitled to. You can learn more about this process via nidirect HSC Trust Assessments.

Financial Benefits: If you are over 16, provide at least 35 hours of care per week, and meet other criteria, you may be eligible for a Carer's Allowance.

Eating too much salt can drive up blood pressure, increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke.

This World Hypertension Day, we’re shining a light on salt and your heart.

Adults in England consume 8.4g of salt a day on average – that’s 40% more than the recommended maximum 6g.

The good news? Small changes can make a difference:
✅ Check food labels
✅ Choose lower-salt options where you can

But it shouldn’t all be on you. Most of the salt we eat is already added to the foods we buy.

That’s why we’re calling on governments across the four UK nations to act now, encouraging the food industry to reduce salt levels in products.

Let’s make the healthier choice the easy choice for everyone ❤️

Do you know your blood pressure numbers?

Normal blood pressure is usually between 90/60 and 130/85 mmHg. A reading of 140/90 mmHg or above is considered high.

These are just guidance ranges. Speak to your doctor if you have any concerns.
