🎉 We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our trainee, Karen, has been promoted to Volunteer! 🎉

From day one, Karen has shown exceptional initiative, excellent problem-solving skills, and an impressive ability to work independently and she has managed to achieve all this while taking up very little of the staff's time.

As part of her new role, Karen will now take on more responsibility, which will be introduced gradually to ensure a smooth transition and to support her continued development.

We are delighted to be able to do this for Karen – she really deserves it.

Please join us in congratulating her on this incredible achievement and wishing her every success in her new voluntary role!

Today at Training Days, we spent the morning continuing to paint a fence 🎨🪵.

Afterwards, we returned to the unit for a short break ☕ before making two doors for our workbench to create storage space for the paint 🔨🚪.

Aiden also sanded down a piece of wood that we are turning into a coffee table 🪚🪵.

After lunch 🍽️, we headed out in the van to run a few errands 🚐 including filling some more holes in at the dog park. Once we got back to the unit, we spent some time tidying up, cleaning, and getting everything prepared for tomorrow 🧹✨.

There’s been lots going on at Training Days over the last three days, and we’ve all really been enjoying the weather. Gardens have been weeded and tidied, grass being cut, a fence painted, a new gate fitted as well as many more tasks. Trevor has also painted his concrete tractors — they look superb! I’ll post a proper photo tomorrow. It’s been a great few days of collaboration and teamwork.

We're looking for a reliable and enthusiastic person to join our team for 6 hours 9-3 every Monday at £14 per hour 💷

The role involves leading groups of adults with learning disabilities and supporting our trainees to take part in fun, engaging, and meaningful activities. 🎨🚶‍♂️🌱

✨ Experience is preferred but not essential – we're more interested in finding the right person!

We're looking for someone who:
💡 Has great ideas and is creative
🧩 Has strong problem-solving skills
❤️ Is passionate about working alongside and engaging adults with learning disabilities
🙌 Is positive, patient, and encouraging
⏰ Is reliable and committed
🚚 Has a driving licence

Another productive day! 💪

Today we welcoming our newest trainee to the team Kyle. He really got stuck in with all the tasks and was even keen to crack on with jobs through lunchtime. I have no doubt he’ll fit right in with our team.

We spent the morning emptying 2-ton bags of chuckies for Doocot view and spreading them out to help with their garden project.

After a quick break, we headed down to the Playing Stones on Low Street and hoed some of the weeds. We'll be back later in the week to get the job finished off.

After lunchtime, we serviced a garden before deciding to make the most of the sunshine. ☀️

We headed to Banff Links for a kickabout with the football and enjoyed some well-earned downtime.

Roll on tomorrow, where we'll do it all over again! 😊⚽🌱

🌿☀️ That’s a wrap for another fantastic week here at Training Days! ☀️🌿

What a great week it’s been. A huge thank you to everyone who has joined us, worked hard, and made the most of their time here. 💪😊

Now, let’s keep our fingers crossed for some sunshine next week! 🌞🤞 With a bit of luck, we can get stuck into more gardening projects and start ticking off that ever-growing garden to-do list. 🌱🌼🪴

Some great projects have been completed recently here at Training Days! 🌟

Our picnic bench has been repaired, sanded, and freshly painted — all ready for the nicer weather and for cheering on Scotland at the World Cup! ⚽🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

🌳 We also refurbished a garden bench for a local resident. The team scrubbed away the rust, measured and fitted new wooden slats, secured everything in place, and gave it a fresh coat of paint. It’s looking fantastic! 🎨🔧

🐦 A brand-new bird table design was created too, and it looks amazing. Great creativity and teamwork from everyone involved!

🌿 We’ve also been busy servicing a few gardens, helping outdoor spaces look their best for summer. ☀️

👏 The trainees continue to develop new skills, come up with creative ideas, and work together to problem-solve and bring their projects to life. A fantastic effort from everyone involved!

The Great Planter Off 🌱🪚

We randomly split 4 of our trainees into two teams:

🔨 Team 1: The Hardy Workers – Kenny and Rian, with Ryan taking the lead.

🎯 Team 2: The Bullseyes – Trevor and another trainee, with Sam as captain.

Each team was tasked with building a planter, with the only rules being that it had to be 70cm long and 3 plank widths wide and high.

The Hardy Workers flew into an early lead and finished their planter with plenty of time to spare. They even managed to complete several other tasks before the challenge ended!

The Bullseyes took a more measured approach, going for a more technical design and finishing just in time.

There was plenty of banter, teamwork, and laughs throughout the morning, with everyone getting stuck in and working together brilliantly.

Our external support worker had the difficult task of judging the final results and ultimately chose The Hardy Workers’ planter as the winner, saying she preferred the design. Well done to them 👏

Unfortunately for The Bullseyes, captain Sam has to take the blame for the defeat… after all, he approved the design 😄

What a brilliant and fun morning all round!
