Training days are a non profit training facility for adults with learning disabilities, offering services to the community such as free garden services for the elderly and disabled and street cleaning plus many more.

This has took a while as sam added me to the Facebook account weeks ago but I prefer staying in the background but I love my job and everything that goes along with it whether helping trainees reach their potential or out with the team trying to make our towns more easy on the eye. There's always someone wanting a hand with something a gate made or grass cut and we are only too happy to help and nothing gives me more satisfaction than a member of the public coming up and telling our workforce what a difference they are making or how hard they are working. It really does make the job worthwhile. The confidence and work ethics of our trainees I belive has grown massively and I'm proud to play a tiny wee part in that. I can honestly say I think Training Days will go from strength to strength and looking forward to the future with Sam's enthusiasm and dedication the sky's the limit.
What did we get up to today? Loads as it turned out. started off with some of the team doing a bit of woodwork. With Halloween on its way Kenny decided to make a pumpkin Eve a frankenstein Kevin a scary clown and Steve was busy making a ghost face sign. We had a collection of pallets from one of our regular supporters Powells country store. Which as always was greatly appreciated. While this was going on karen and Kenny chopped up loads of kindlers which is available from our unit at £4 a bag. We could also deliver if required. Max started work on a stand for his PS controllers. After dinner we got stuck into a cracking project repairing and painting a boat for the ladies from Banff and Macduff In Bloom what a lovely bunch and only too happy to help these ladies keep our towns looking beautiful with their flower displays round about our towns. Iain headed out to fit a wheelchair ramp that the trainees built for a lady to make things more accessible. Last but not least we delivered Hulk to his new home in Foggie. Kevin had built him for the annual scarecrow competition in the town. Best of luck kev you put in a lot of planning and work. Finally big shout out to Laura Hero Winton for the donation of tools they will come in really handy and will be well used.

A massive thank you to Ray Skinner, manager of Banff Rovers, who recently took on the Manchester Tough Mudder and raised an incredible £820 for Training Days! 💙👏

On top of this amazing fundraising effort, Banff Rovers have also donated their old football strips to us, giving our team the chance to take to the pitch in proper kit!

We put the strips to good use on Friday when Training Days FC played our first-ever game against Venture FC. It was a close-fought match with some great play from both sides, but Venture FC came out on top with a couple of late goals. We’re already looking forward to a rematch! ⚽️

Ray and everyone at Banff Rovers deserve massive kudos for their support. They do so much for the local community themselves, and it’s fantastic to see local organisations supporting one another and creating opportunities for everyone to get involved.

🎃 Another fun day at Training Days! 💚

Today we welcomed our newest volunteer, Doug! Having an extra pair of hands and someone who can drive the van made a huge difference to the team. Thanks for your help, Doug! 👏

🐐 Goat playground completed! The team finished building a playground for some very lucky goats. It was a lot of fun to make, and we can't wait to deliver it meet the goats, and see them enjoying their new play area!

🐕 Improving the dog park! Some of the team headed over to replace the ramp at the dog park. The previous ramp wasn't quite as sturdy as we would have liked, but that's all part of learning! The team took what they learned from the first attempt and came up with a much sturdier design this time. It's great to see them learning from experience, solving problems and improving their skills. 💪

👻 Halloween preparations are underway! Lots of Halloween designs have started taking shape in the workshop. These will be available to buy, so keep an eye out for photos coming soon! 🎃

🔨⚽ Another busy and exciting week at Training Days! ⚽🔨

This week, Max finished and fitted the stand he designed and made for his PlayStation controllers, giving them a proper place to sit so they don’t get lost! 🎮

It’s a really creative idea, and Max has done an excellent job with the design and finished product. 👏

Steve has also been busy creating a set of shelves. He cut them to size, planed them down, sanded them, washed them and finished them by rubbing in beeswax. 🪵✨

Both should be really proud of what they have created. It’s fantastic to see trainees taking an idea from start to finish, developing practical skills and producing something they can genuinely be proud of.

📅 Every Thursday
⏰ 9am–3pm (6 hours)
➡️ Potential for 7:30am–4:15pm shifts when required
💷 £14 per hour
➕ Additional hours available for holiday and sickness cover
📈 Potential for an increased contract in the coming months as we continue to grow.

What we're looking for 👇

We're looking for someone who is:

❤️ Passionate about helping people develop and achieve their potential
🤝 Reliable, friendly and engaging
💡 Creative and able to come up with new ideas and activities
🗣️ Confident interacting with and supporting trainees
🛠️ Happy to get stuck in and try new things
🚗 Holds a full UK driving licence
📋 Willing to complete a PVG check

Experience is preferred but not essential — the right attitude, personality and willingness to get involved are just as important.

What will you be doing?

You'll be working alongside our trainees, helping them build confidence, independence, teamwork, initiative and practical skills.

The role will include:
🌱 Supporting trainees with community projects and activities
💡 Coming up with creative ideas for trainees to get involved in
🎨 Using your own hobbies, interests and passions to introduce trainees to new experiences
🤝 Encouraging teamwork, initiative and independence
🪵 Opportunities to learn and teach basic woodworking skills
📚 Supporting trainees working towards Qualifications Scotland accredited qualifications
✅ Opportunities to become involved in assessing and verifying trainee work (training provided)

At Training Days, we believe in ability rather than disability and giving people the opportunity to show what they can do within their community.
This is a varied role where you won't simply be sitting on the sidelines — we want you to get involved, bring your own ideas and become part of the team.

A massive thank you to Kenny from The Broken Fiddle, Banff for inviting the Training Days team round for burgers and chips! 🍔🍟 The team had a brilliant time and really appreciated the kind gesture. It was a great chance for everyone to relax and enjoy some time together. ❤️

A huge thank you also to Morag for setting up a GoFundMe for our trainees’ Amenity Fund. The team recently went round to see Morag with a card and some chocolates to say thank you for everything she has done. 🍫

The Amenity Fund helps us provide extra opportunities and activities for our trainees, and we already have a hospitality package at Deveronvale planned for December. ⚽️🎉

It’s been another busy few days at Training Days! 💪

🔨 The team have fixed more holes in the dog park fence and have started making a new ramp for the park.

Another great day out in the community! 🌱💪

Today the team got stuck in cutting some grass and clearing the path next to Cramond Street park helping to keep the area tidy, safe and accessible for everyone.

🔨 Another fantastic donation for Training Days! 🔨

A huge thank you to the Round Table for their very generous donation, including a brand-new drill set, circular saw and £250 donation. These tools will come in very handy over the winter months as we begin our woodwork season and give the trainees plenty of opportunities to develop new skills. 🪚🔧

We’d also like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has been involved with the Round Table over the years for the support they gave to our local community. It really was appreciated! ❤️

It’s been another busy couple of days for the team. We’ve:
🌿 Serviced a number of local gardens
🌱 Cut the grass at the boat
🐕 Repaired the fence at the dog park
And of course, we’ve been keeping busy with some creative projects too!
🦽Made another wheelchair ramp which will be installed tomorrow.

💪 Check out Kevin’s Hulk, which he’s made for an upcoming scarecrow competition — we think he’s looking pretty impressive!

🪵 Steve has also been busy making these shelves to hold some of his figurines at home. A great example of how the skills our trainees develop can be used in their own lives too.

Today we split into two teams — a Community Team and a Base Team! 💪

🌱 Community Team were out and about tackling weeds at a couple of local locations, helping to keep our community looking its best.

🔨 Base Team stayed at the unit where they:
Tidied and organised the shelves
Made kindling ready for sale
Started making another wheelchair ramp
Got stuck into some more Halloween projects 🎃👻

Another busy and productive day for the team, with everyone getting involved building and maintaining skills along the way! 👏
