A huge thank you to George and Iris 💛

We were delighted to welcome George and Iris to Mablethorpe Lifeboat Station recently after they very kindly raised funds to support our lifesaving work. 🚤🌊

It was lovely to show them around the station, introduce them to the crew, and explain how their fundraising helps us continue to be there when we’re needed most.

Every penny raised makes a difference. As a charity, the RNLI relies on the generosity of our amazing supporters to keep our lifeboats in the water, our equipment ready and our volunteers trained.

Thank you, George and Iris, for your kindness, enthusiasm and for helping to support our local lifeboat station. We hope you enjoyed your visit as much as we enjoyed welcoming you! 💙

🌊🍺 Alcohol and Water Don't Mix 🍺🌊

A cold drink may seem like part of a perfect day at the beach, but when alcohol and water mix, the risks can increase dramatically.

Alcohol can affect your judgement, balance, coordination and reaction times, making it harder to recognise danger and respond effectively if something goes wrong. What might seem like a safe swim or paddle can quickly become a life-threatening situation.

⚠️ Alcohol can:
🏊 Reduce your swimming ability
🌊 Increase the risk of drowning
🧠 Impair judgement and decision-making
🥶 Increase the effects of cold water shock
⚡ Slow reaction times during an emergency
🚤 Put you and others at risk when boating or taking part in water activities

Even strong swimmers can get into difficulty after drinking alcohol. Cold water, waves, tides and currents can quickly overwhelm someone whose judgement or physical ability has been affected.

✅ Stay Safe This Summer
• Avoid drinking alcohol before swimming or entering the water
• Never mix alcohol with paddleboarding, kayaking, boating or other water sports
• Look after friends and family members around water• Know your limits and make sensible decisions
• If you've been drinking, stay out of the water

Remember, many coastal tragedies involve alcohol as a contributing factor. A few drinks might seem harmless, but near water they can have serious consequences.

Enjoy the summer, enjoy the coast, but if you're planning to drink, stay on dry land.

🚨 If you see someone in trouble at the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

Mablethorpe Lifeboat Station – Our Story Continues…

The Early Years!

When Mablethorpe Lifeboat Station was established in 1883, launching a lifeboat was a very different challenge to what our crews experience today.

In those early days, lifeboats were launched using horse-drawn carriages, with crews battling not only the conditions at sea, but also the challenges of getting their boat to the water.

One such moment came in 1889 when the crew were called to the Elizabeth Argo, there was heavy snow and the lifeboat had to be transported four miles by road, taking hours to reach the scene — a true example of the determination and commitment shown by lifeboat crews of the past.

Thankfully, the lifeboat was not needed on that occasion, but the courage and willingness to help remained the same.

Over 140 years later, although the boats and equipment have changed but the spirit of our volunteers remains exactly the same — ready to launch, ready to help, ready to save lives. 🌊

Who says events are hard work??

The Mablethorpe team were at party in the park at Grange Farm Park in Maltby le Marsh this summer and had the pleasure of meeting Danny Miller who plays Aaron Di**le in Emmerdale!

He very kindly had his photo taken and mentioned our sales table at every opportunity on stage, what a really nice man and to top it all we had a busy day fundraising.

A huge thankyou to all of our lovely fundraisers at Mablethorpe who work so hard for our station 💛

Mablethorpe Lifeboat Station – Our Story Begins…

For more than 140 years, the people of Mablethorpe have stood behind their lifeboat and its crews, helping to keep those at sea safe.

Our story began in 1883 when Mablethorpe Lifeboat Station was established, replacing the earlier station at Theddlethorpe.

From horse-drawn lifeboats and brave crews of the past, to the Atlantic 85 we launch today, our station has a long and proud history of courage, commitment and saving lives at sea.

Over the coming weeks, we’re going to take a little trip back through the years and share some of the stories, people, boats and rescues that have helped shape Mablethorpe Lifeboat Station into the station it is today.

This is where our story begins… 1883
