If it wasn't warm enough in Lytham we got the blow torch out today to scorch the wood, acts as a natural preservative.

This is the first of our medium bug houses, just missing its name plate, with the slate roof. We like it and we hope the local Ansdell business, that does an amazing amount of community work, enjoys our little thankyou gift when we deliver it to them...

Its just a bit warm to get the Pyography equipment out, as the tip of the burner reaches 750C (phew).

Buzzing Bees today at the workshop.

This morning the boys have been busy moving stuff into our new containers, whilst Martin W started on the racking and bench for the new container storage workshop.

Martin H was in the printshop finishing a batch of mugs ready for delivery.

This afternoon we have been finishing a few bee hotels that have been decorated by Ian and then it was onto a new design of bug house. These new ones are a little smaller than the big bug houses and we are going to try a slate roof design on them - Watch this space...

Our buddy, and guest of honour when we opened our Community Workshop Lytham at the YMCA in Lytham is now Sir Kevin Sinfield...

The King has recognised Kev in his birthday honours for his work in raising awareness of MND and the amazing £11m he has raised through his "7 in 7" ultra marathon challenges.

Everybody needs a friend like Sir Kev 💙 💛

So what was all yesterday's activity at the YMCA Lytham Official on Mythop Road Lytham?

Well after just over one year tucked away at the back of the main building we have worked with Bryce and his team at the YMCA to secure a new location that offers us more future potential and a more prominent position, it also helps keep the noise down for those trying to do Yoga next door to a noisy workshop🤣.

The transition will take place over the coming weeks and months and yesterday was the "Heavy Lifting" day , clearly, as we moved our current Upcycling workshop and material store across site and it was joined by two new containers.

The new containers will become predominantly storage areas for materials and our larger projects allowing us to create more working space in the Upcycling workshop. This first step of the transition was only made possible thanks to a community grant from Fylde Council and support from Edyta at the council putting us in touch with Dan at Container Care who was able to do us a "great deal " in securing two fully refurbished containers and sorting out all our logistics requirements for yesterday. In addition thank you to The DJ Sidebottom / Glasdon Charitable Programme for the generous funding which will allow us equip the containers with material storage racking and workbenches, we will use our own skills to create the container interiors optimising the funding available.

Over the coming weeks and months the next phase of the transition will take place as we work with Bill at the YMCA to establish our new workshop inside the current Groundskeepers Workshop, we will share more details as the progress evolves. Keep watching this space for updates, we are going to be very busy again 🤣.
