Community Workshop Lytham

A huge thankyou to St.Annes Timber Supplies Ltd who have come to the rescue of our Hedgehog House production.

The big sheet saw at our usual supplier is out of action, so we rang the team in St Annes and they have been able to supply the cut material and match the price we pay, as they love Hedgehog Rescue Blackpool and it's work as much as ourselves.

So this week we will be in full production again across Tuesday and Thursday at the workshop, with Ian already prepping the material into the kits ready for a quick sand followed by assembly.

Wow, just wow.

The Ladies have been hard at work this afternoon at the workshop on our Christmas project for the Christmas window at the Lytham Brian House Children's Hospice charity shop.

The rocking horse is certainly becoming an amazing centrepiece. 🐴❤️

Full on day at the workshop, with most jobs inside due to the damp weather...

Phil is continuing with his planters made from reclaimed decking, and Vicky finished her planter by adding the finishing touch of a scorched wood effect.

Lots of the lads have been on the Christmas projects, for Brian House Children's Hospice shop in Lytham, including Rustic Snowmen and a Sleigh. A very busy workshop and buzzing with chat 🐝🐝🐝

This afternoon the team have been on Hedgehog House roofs and even more Snowmen.

In between all the projects and chats we also had time to host a visit from the local Ansdell and Fairhaven WI group, its great to show off our capabilities.

Lastly the latest of our community benches are ready for delivery this week, two are being donated to the Fairhaven Wellbeing Hub based at Fairhaven Methodist Church, the cost of these benches funded by UK Men's Sheds Association in coordination with Diageo . They will be located in a very prominent location and are designed to encourage conversations, hence they are designed to be very comfortable and a very sturdy construction.

A little reminder of the epic fundraiser being undertaken by Sir Kev and his team of hero's, if you can spare a few pounds please do consider supporting.

MND is such a debilitating disease to fight and it impacts so many people in our communities, that we do not see. The work Kev and team are doing is amazing in raising so much money but also bringing the spotlight yet again on the families and communities, the fight for a cure continues.

Plan B today at the workshop, we did intend a batch of Hedgehog Houses, but B&Q had a big saw issue yesterday - so we couldn't get the kits ready for assembly.

So Plan B was to finalise the assembly kit for the Kirkham Station big bug house signal box, ready for collection on Thursday morning by Peter and colleagues from Grow Kirkham and Wesham Station .

Then amongst many other jobs the Tuesday afternoon group had a good communal bench session and produced another medium size bug house, customer to be decided...

The next exciting event is the Lytham Volunteer Group meeting on Wednesday evening organised by Lytham Town Council

THE GRAND FINALE ♥️🧡💙

As many of you know Sir Kevin Sinfield will be running the last 7 in 7 ultra marathon challenge starting this Sunday over in East Yorkshire and finishing at Old Trafford next Saturday , for the Rugby League Super League final.

As well as raising over £11m for the MND association Kevin has demonstrated what it is like to be a true friend, gentleman and Superhero.

Another Hedgehog House delivered to a station along the South Fylde Line yesterday, this one for the Friends of Lytham Railway Station, Lytham St. Anne's . We also have one already at St Anne's station, thanks to the Friends of St. Anne's Station , and soon we will have another station with Squires Gate being added thanks to the Friends of Squires Gate Railway Station .

In each case the kind customers took advantage of our offer and supported the Hedgehog Rescue Blackpool deal and donated a Hedgehog House.

Our latest project is taking shape at the workshop. It will form part of the Christmas window display at Brian House Children's Hospice charity shop window in Lytham.... This one is being done by the Ladies from our School of Woodworking and Skipton Peter...
