Lytham Probus

Lytham Probus organised a visit by coach to Jodrell Bank on 9th July 2026. Members from St Annes Probus were invited to attend making a total of 25 people. The weather was fantastic and the event was greatly enjoyed by everyone. All in all a very successful trip.

On Tuesday 9th June Eric Haworth organised a walk around Fairhaven Lake. Despite the torrential rain at times the walk was enjoyed by the attendees. Eric asked a passer by to take the photo and it shows from left to right, Eric Haworth, Elfyn Gittins, Leyland Morris, Ken Sanderson and John Newick.

Last evening, Wednesday 27th of May, 2026, Eric Haworth attended the "Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity" (RNRMC) recognition evening at the Merchants Hall, Glasgow.

This was in recognition of the generous Lytham Probus club donation to the charity , which had been identified by President Frank.

All charities were thanked for their thoughtful efforts in raising money for the cause.

Our Coffee Morning raised over £600 for the North West Air Ambulance Charity. Many thanks go to the Mayor and Mayoress of Fylde, Councillor Frank Andrews and Mrs Ann Andrews and Councillor Simon Newell, Chair of Lytham Town Council for their support, and for the contributions of our members and wives to the success of the event.

This morning, twenty-one of our Lytham Probus members plus guests, visited the Lowther Gardens Theatre and new Windmill complex. The Chief Executive of the trust which runs this charity, Tim Lince, spent just over an hour showing the party around the new and the original buildings.
The new Windmill theatre seats nearly three hundred and has an amazing seat construction operation which allows all the seats to retract up to the rear wall leaving the floor to be used for other purposes such as a recent tea dance. Tim demonstrated the latest state of the art cinema and sound system which was very impressive.
There was a question-and-answer session plus Tim's idea for future productions.
All in all, a very interesting morning.

The brilliant Encore Singers entertain us at our last meeting before the Christmas break, spreading their Christmas cheer and raising our spirits. We meet again on 14th January.

Chris Barnsley (President) and Mike Fenton (Treasurer) represented Lytham Probus at the Civic Service held at St. Nicholas’ Church, Wrea Green this morning, at the invitation of the new Mayor and Mayoress of Fylde, Councillor Frank and Mrs Ann Andrews.

The new season of Lytham Probus begins in September and committee members have been active in preparation for what promises to be another good season of meetings. Also, some members have been meeting informally for lunch monthly, and some are taking advantage of interesting visits organised by our friends at St. Annes Probus.
