Many people don’t realise that nearly half of dementia cases worldwide could potentially be prevented or delayed by addressing everyday health and lifestyle factors. Small steps like staying mentally active, caring for your heart, and staying socially connected can all support better brain health.

This is why approaches such as Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) are so valuable — helping people stay mentally engaged and socially connected.

This World Health Day, take a moment to check in on your brain health with Alzheimer’s Research UK’s quick online tool:

🧠✨ Do you know someone in Milford on Sea who might benefit from a Memory Group? ✨🧠

If you are supporting a family member who has received a diagnosis of dementia, or who may be worried about their memory, our friendly Memory Group at The Bridge offers a positive and supportive space.

The sessions are based on Cognitive Stimulation Therapy, using engaging activities and conversation to keep the brain active, build confidence, and encourage social connection.

Many people find it reassuring to meet others going through similar experiences. You are not alone. 💙

Could a return to more analogue lifestyle help support our brain health?

By analogue, we mean hobbies and pastimes like knitting, sudoku, puzzles, and reading books. These tangible, more intentional activities are being rediscovered by younger people in the new viral trend, as a way to step back from endless scrolling and engage our brains in new ways. Why don't you try it, too?

Our brains are complex and adaptable. Challenging them in different ways throughout life is one small step that may help support long-term brain health and reduce the risk of dementia. That’s the thinking behind our Think Brain Health Picture Puzzle.

If you haven’t tried it yet, now’s a great time to take a few minutes for yourself - and your brain: https://www.alzheimersresearchuk.org/brain-health-check-in/picture-puzzle/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=organic-social&utm_campaign=tbh

Today, Memoryworks Hampshire CIC collaborated with the New Forest Heritage Centre and Verderers of the New Forest.

Members of our dementia community enjoyed a special visit to learn about the important role of the Verderers and the historic Verderers Court. We were delighted to hear from Alison Tilbury, who shared her knowledge and kindly answered questions from the group.

The visit offered a wonderful opportunity to connect, learn, and engage with local heritage in a supportive and welcoming environment. To round off the day, everyone returned to the New Forest Heritage Centre to enjoy tea and cake together ☕🍰

An experience like this highlights the importance of community, inclusion, and lifelong learning for all.
