CARMEN 2026 TEAM - Anna Gregory- Director

Anna () is an ex-chef and latecomer to opera.She trained with the ENO Operaworks and has since toured extensively across Europe, performing roles including Ilia (Idomeneo), Judith (Bluebeard's Castle), Violetta (La Traviata), Tosca (Tosca), Frasquita (Carmen), Sieglinde (Die Walküre), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), and Lady Macbeth (Macbeth).

In the United States, she premiered Rhythms of the City by Oscar-winning composer
Heitor Pereira with Rendon Arts LA. Her concert appearances include performances with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and the Bournemouth Philharmonic, as well as engagements at the Royal Festival Hall, The Hague, and the Concertgebouw.

In November 2026, Anna will perform the role of Gerhilde in Die Walküre with Opera
Forge, directed by Sir John Tomlinson at Duke's Hall.

As a director, Anna's credits include Pagliacci! (OperaUpClose), Otello (Verdi D.O.), The
Secretary CEO (Tête à Tête Opera Festival), The Consul, Peter Grimes, Mozart: Street
Scenes, and the premiere of It Makes No Difference by Simone Spagnolo. Her work has
earned numerous five-star reviews in both the National and Opera Press.

Following her acclaimed 2025 production of La Bohème for Devon Opera, Anna was
appointed the company's Artistic Director.

CARMEN TEAM 2026

We are so lucky to be once again joined by pianist and composer, Pavel Timofeyevsky ().

Pavel is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the most exciting and compelling artists of his generation. Born in Russia and educated in England, Pavel graduated with distinction as Master of Arts from the Royal Academy of Music, London. Solo and chamber music recitals, as well as concerto performances with orchestras has brought him to nearly all major concert venues in UK; these include the prestigious Wigmore Hall, as well as the Royal Festival and Queen Elizabeth Halls in London. Concert tours, along with television and radio appearances in other parts of the world include Russia, France, Spain, Sweden, Greece, Cyprus, South Africa and India.

Pavel is the recipient of several prestigious British music awards, scholarships and national competition prizes: these include the Musicians Benevolent Fund Award, the 2007 Myra Hess Award, and the Philharmonia Orchestra Martin Musical Scholarship for piano, as well as winning the BBC/Guardian Young Composer of the Year award for composition.

CARMEN 2026 CAST REVEAL

Our final cast reveal is the brilliant Annabel Mackenney (.music) as Manuelita!

Annabel is about to begin her 2nd year studying a BA (Hons) in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy at Leeds Conservatoire, and has been training and singing professionally for a number of years. She has starred in and directed many amateur dramatics Productions, including Les Miserables.

Alongside performing, Annabel works for multiple music charities across Leeds and Sheffield, delivering intergenerational music sessions and youth music clubs. She also enjoys playing saxaphone!

CARMEN 2026 CAST REVEAL

We are thrilled to welcome Stuart Pendred to our cast as Zuniga. Stuart is CEO & Artistic Director of Oxford Opera Company (). He originally trained as an actor, and continues to work across theatre, television, musicals, film, radio and voice-over.

Stuart's opera credits include Kurwenal in Tristan und Isolde and Hagen in Der Ring des Nibelungen (LFO)Cardinal Bandini in The Fabulist (Charing Cross Theatre), Scarpia in Tosca and Zuniga in Carmen (Oxford Opera Company), Alberich in Das Rheingold (ERO), Kurwenal, Amfortas in Parsifal (Elemental Opera), and Scarpia in Tosca alongside covering Dr Schön/Jack the Ripper in Lulu (ENO). Further credits span Dorset Opera Festival, Saffron Opera Group, Berwick Festival Opera, Grange Park Opera, Opera Herts, Impact Opera and Opera Up Close, among others.

On the concert platform, his oratorio work includes Brahms's Ein Deutsches Requiem, Handel's Messiah, Mozart's Requiem and Solemn Vespers, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle, Charpentier's Messe de Minuit, Monteverdi's Beatus Vir, Pergolesi's Magnificat, and Saint-Saëns's Christmas Oratorio.
