We’re proud to be supporting (June 8th-14th)

Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.

The theme for Carers Week 2026 is 'Building Carer-Friendly Communities'. This will highlight the impact carer-friendly communities can have in making a real and lasting difference to the lives of carers everywhere.

to all the amazing people who provide unpaid care, we respect and admire you all. We hope the work we do brings you some joy and respite. We care and are here for you. Please reach out when you are struggling. Caring for loved ones is hard and you need support too.

A huge thank you to Go Vol Herts for organising another wonderful Volunteers Fair.

We had a lovely morning chatting and serving drinks and cakes, and we're very grateful for the opportunity to fundraise.

As you may be aware, Hertfordshire was selected as the second Centre of Excellence for Music and Dementia by the National Academy for Social Prescribing (NASP) through its Power of Music Fund. Led by Age UK Hertfordshire in partnership with the Hertfordshire Care Providers Association (HCPA), Music24, Hertfordshire County Council and other expert organisations, the programme aims to transform dementia care across the county by embedding music into everyday practice.

Read more here about how the first year has been a great success :

🎵 Music is changing dementia care, proving to be powerful and transformational. 💙

For people living with dementia, it can spark memories, ease distress, and strengthen connection even in later stages.

In , an innovative programme is putting music at the heart of care. 🎶

👉 Care home staff are becoming Music Champions, using personalised playlists, singing, and movement daily.

✨ The impact means residents are calmer and more engaged, with reduced distress and agitation and with better communication and emotional wellbeing.

It's resulted in more compassionate, personalised care and...it's uplifting staff too, leading to increased confidence, stronger teamwork and improved morale. 🙌

This is what person-centred care looks like, simple, human, and powerful.
