We asked you to find a mild. You did just that. Scoring 1,857 of them, more than in May 2025.

Until the 1960s, mild was the most popular pint in Britain. Now it makes up for just 0.5% of beer sold in pubs – not because it isn't good, but because people stopped ordering it. So we asked you to do one thing: go find a mild, drink it, share it and score it.

Search on Facebook or Instagram and you'll find people who tried a mild, and shared it. Pubs posting the milds they're stocking. Breweries celebrating the beers they made. Breweries brewed it, pubs stocked it and you celebrated it.

Mild gets back from 0.5% – one pint at a time. This May, you proved that.

It's not watery, weak or old fashioned. We just needed to tell a better story about it.

Mild. Reclaimed.

📢 We're behind the campaign, asking for a VAT cut to 10% for hospitality.

📣 We've been campaigning on this for years. Instead of bleeding pubs dry, how about we recognise what pubs do for communities and their local economy?

The hospitality sector has come together to launch – a united campaign and petition calling for hospitality VAT to be reduced from 20% to 10%.

Spearheaded by chef and publican Tom Kerridge, we’re working alongside trade bodies across the sector, such as and , hospitality communities like , and you, businesses across hospitality, to say 10% VAT is fair for hospitality.

Our sector pays too much tax, and VAT is the single biggest lever the Government can pull to support venues, our customers, our high streets and our local communities.

This campaign is for everyone: businesses, customers, waiting staff, chefs, kitchen porters, bar staff, hotel teams, farmers, brewers, suppliers and producers.

⁉️ Lidl are about to open a pub in Northern Ireland ⁉️

🍺 A bonkers story, but it shines a spotlight on the extremely restrictive licensing laws in Northern Ireland, including the maddening 'surrender principle'.

📢 There must be changes to the law which make it almost impossible to open a new pub, micropub, taproom or bottle shop.

A great beer and an even better story.

A stuffed red squirrel, Alfie, lived in the bar of Driftwood Spars' pub at Trevaunance Cove in St Agnes, Cornwall. He kept watch over the regulars.

One day, Alfie disappeared. He has never been seen since.

So head brewer, Pete Martin, brewed a beer about it.

Alfie's Revenge. 6.5%. Pete called it his Magnum Opus. It won Champion Winter Beer of Britain in 2012 and has collected awards ever since.

Pete is no longer with us. But his recipe is still brewed today by head brewer, Tim Lawrence. Every pint is a tribute to the man who made it, and to the squirrel who inspired it.

Alfie's Revenge won 🥉 Bronze at the Champion Beer of Britain 2026. The highest honour in British cask brewing.

Somewhere out there, Alfie is, presumably, very pleased with himself.
