This weekend, our Beavers went on a district day trip to Knebworth to celebrate Beavers 40th Birthday! A great day out, full of fun and laughter! Thank you to Denise, from the district team for organising and all our volunteers who volunteered their time for our young people to be able to attend 🤝🦫

Last night, our Cubs put to practise their knot tying skills they’d learnt the week before! Using paper plates, a digestive, icing sugar and strawberry laces, they first made the world badge (using a reef knot), before making a raft out of breadsticks! There they made use of a clove hitch, and square lashings! A busy (and tasty) evening… 🍪🪢⚜️

St George’s Day 2026 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🐉

All of us from Ross Park would like to say a massive THANK YOU to the Falkes District Team for organising this year’s St George’s Day! A day of fun filled taskmaster style challenges saw our Cubs and Scouts embrace the spring sun alongside a number of Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers from all across our district. Congratulations to our Scout team for winning ‘eternal pride’ as the first-placed winners of the Cub/Scout competition. 🎉

Our congratulations again go to Dean Gates, Stephen Potter and Jen Avis for their aforementioned awards, but also to Lisa Jones who was today awarded with the ‘Award for Merit’ highlighting 15+ years of service to our group! Congratulations Lisa! 🥇

Stephen Avis also was awarded his 5 year service award, for 5 years as an adult volunteer within the group.

Our thanks also go to Colin, Lisa and Stephen for their attendance, enabling our young people to be able to attend today’s event! 🤝

And of course, yet another thank you, to the wonderful district team for putting this all on for us… here’s to next one! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

A MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS to our very own;

Dean Gates (Chairperson)
Stephen Potter (Treasurer)
Jen Avis (Ross Park Volunteer Team)

for their inclusion in the 2026 roll of honour (a collation of all ‘Good Service awards’ awarded in 2025)!

Stephen and Jen achieved ‘The Chief Scouts Commendation for Good Service’, which recognises exemplary effort of a duration of 5+ years in Scouting.

Dean has been awarded the ‘Award for Merit’ which recognises an exemplary effort of 10+ years!

I’m sure everyone would join me in saying a massive THANK YOU for all you do, have done, and will continue to do for our group! 🎉

This weekend, our Scouts enjoyed a fun (yet freezing) weekend at Phasels Wood Activity Centre! 🥶⚜️

They enjoyed time to adventure, explore, to take on the rolling rock and even spend 90 minutes on the Cresta Run! 🧗

Thank you to Colin for organising yet another successful camp, the young people for being so willing to take part and Oli, Jen, Matt, Matty, Simon and Stephen for giving up their time to ensure the safe running of the weekend. Extra thank you to Simon for his photos below 😀

On Wednesday, our Cubs got creative ahead of Mothering Sunday! They made cakes, keychains and cards, even finding time to make (and test) ‘spare’ cakes 😉

We think their creations are pretty awesome! 😀🧁💐

They’ll check back in on their cress and celery in a few weeks time… (I don’t think any marshmallows survived to be checked😅)

As ever, the AGM is an important part of our governance and is an opportunity for us to share all the wonderful activities we have been doing over the course of the year, and for you to see where the money you put into the group is going. 🔥

🚨REMINDER- TOMORROW🚨

On Tuesday, 23rd September, we will be holding our annual AGM, starting at 18:15.

The AGM is key to our governance and will detail the work done by our board of trustees over the past year.

If you are a member of the district, or a member of the group (including young people and their families), you are welcome to attend!

The AGM will be brief and an evening by the campfire/servings of Hot Dogs will follow! 🔥🌭
