Ketamine

People use ketamine for relaxation, reduced pain, induces feelings of detachment, and can cause hallucinations.

Some short term risks of using ketamine include difficulty with movement, nausea and sickness, feel disconnected to your body, dizziness, memory loss, paranoia and hallucinations also known as a ‘K Hole’.

Some long term risks include ‘K Cramps’ abdominal pain, damage to the bladder, risk of dependency, anxiety and depression, damage to nasal passageways and risk of seizures.

Ways to reduce the risk:
Stay low, go slow.
Don’t be afraid to call for help - If someone might be having problems because of ketamine, call for help.
If someone is unconscious or having difficulty breathing, always call 999. Don’t worry; the ambulance won’t bring the police unless it’s a very specific situation.
Don’t use or share banknotes for snorting- This can spread infections and blood borne viruses.
Avoid using alone- use with trusted friends.
Avoid driving- find another way home.
Avoid mixing with other drugs/alcohol.
Avoid food for 90 minutes before taking ketamine- This will make you less likely to feel sick and vomit.
