N U B I A N J A K COMMUNITY TRUST will unveil the world's largest commemorative plaque in honour of 70 Notting Hill Carnival pioneers.

The names on the plaque include stalwarts such as Claudia Jones, but it also recognises persons from various groups such as committee members, steel band leaders, Mas ban leaders, costumer designers and more..

The unveiling will be held on Friday 28 August 2026 10.00–11.30am at the Venture Centre, Wornington Road, W10 5YB

In the August issue of the Voice newspaper, Arthur Torrington CBE pays tribute to a special Windrush Centenarian - Aston Senior. 🖤🇯🇲🇯🇲

Mr. Senior recently celebrated his 100th birthday at in Bethsalem, Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica.

Aston left Kingston, Jamaica on board the Windrush on May 27, 1948 as passenger, number 881.

He served with the RAF in the Second World War and is one of the few remaining living passengers who came to England on the HMT Empire Windrush in June 1948.
