We believe every young person is valuable and should be kept safe and supported to achieve their aspirations. This was a really beneficial discussion on how we can work collaboratively to achieve these aims. Thank you for inviting us along Chiltern Learning Trust!

It was great to have Cllr Robert Roche, Cllr Khtija Malik, Rehana Faisal and Tariq Khalil from The Raise Up Foundation join us today for a discussion on how we can roll out our serious youth violence curriculum across schools in Luton!

We are exhausted but elated!

Team Raise Up has been taking a well earned break, but we couldn't end the week without celebrating the brilliant young people who took part in the IGNITE programme!

This Tuesday we held the Grand Finale of IGNITE at the beautiful Luton Hoo Estate, where our young people took to the stage to pitch the social enterprises they've spent the last six months building. Watching them stand in front of a room of business leaders, dignitaries and special guests, presenting their ideas with such confidence and ambition, was nothing short of remarkable.

Six months ago, many of them wouldn't have believed this was possible. On Tuesday night, they proved to themselves, and to everyone in the room, exactly what they're capable of.

We were especially honoured to welcome Bedfordshire Lieutenancy Sue Lousada, who presented the awards and spoke so powerfully about the work. She recognised the value of building skills that transfer across every sector and career, and reminded us of something we see time and again: that young people often need support and encouragement from beyond their own families to truly flourish. Above all, she spoke of the immense talent right here in Luton, a talent that too often goes unseen. On Tuesday, it was impossible to miss.

A special thank you to our headline sponsors for the finale, RenewBuild Group, Kashmir catering service and the Luton Hoo Estate, whose generosity and belief in our young people made this evening possible. We're so grateful for your partnership.

None of this happens alone. This programme was only possible due to generous support from across the community! Our heartfelt thanks go to:

🔥 Our incredible young people, who gave everything to this programme
🔥 The families who supported and encouraged them every step of the way
🔥 Our brilliant panel of judges, who gave their time and insight
🔥 The mentors, guest speakers and businesses who shaped the journey
🔥 Our sponsors and supporters, who made the evening possible
🔥 Everyone who came out to celebrate and cheer them on

This town is full of talented, ambitious young people who deserve every opportunity to shine. Tuesday night was proof of that, and we couldn't be prouder.

To our IGNITE young people: this is just the beginning. We can't wait to see where you go next. 🚀

A huge thank you to everyone who attended the recent events for our community-led report, Everybody Knows: Islamophobia, safety and belonging in our town.

The pre-launch gave leaders in health, education, policing and the council a first-look at its findings and recommendations. The feedback was supportive and discussions gave honest insight into institutional challenges and explored practical steps to implementation. We're pleased there has been progress towards the recommendations, which we plan to share in the near future.

The community launch welcomed people from various organisations and groups to offer feedback and add their views. Attendees gave critical reflections, including the scale at which immigration narratives are shaping British Muslim's sense of belonging in the UK; the worrying trajectory seen as another genocide is normalised; the necessity of Islamophobia and racism being viewed as an integral part of safeguarding; and the importance of giving attention to intersectional experiences including anti-Blackness and gendered experiences of racism and Islamophobia.

Missed the launch? You can download the full report from our website. Keep an eye on our socials where we'll be sharing sections of the report over the coming weeks.

Finally, a special thank you to everyone who participated in the research - this first report on the experiences of Muslims in Luton is here because of your contributions.
