Wherry Maud Trust - Charity No. 1161285.

Wherry Maud Trust - Charity No. 1161285. 'Maud', built 1899 by DS Hall of Reedham. In 1899 'Maud' was launched by DS Hall, a notable wherry builder based in Reedham. Just in time for her centenary.

She was built for Walter C Bunn, a timber merchant who already owned her sister craft 'Dora'. A detailed overview of her working life can be found here: http://www.nationalhistoricships.org.uk/register/650/maud. Like many of her kind, she ended up in use as a mud barge and eventually was scuppered on Ranworth Broad in the mid 1960's. Brief respite came when she was momentarily raised, only to be f

illed with mud and sunk again. In 1981, the Pargeters (who we thank VERY much for their dedication) took the brave decision to raise 'Maud' from this ignominious position, and on 2nd June 1981 she once more took her more natural position of being afloat. It wasn't until 1999 until 'Maud' sailed again. Since then, she has sailed all around, been present at Maritime festivals, wherry re-launch parties, and sailing club water frolics, you name it! This page, is intended to promote "Maud" and encourage more to come forward and support her and indeed sail her.

It may have been a little overcast for today’s sail from Ludham to Acle and back, but we managed to dodge both the showers and the yachts taking part in a local race.

A big thank you to our skipper and crew, and to our members for such great company on board.

🎨 Artists & Craft Makers Show – Exhibitor Spotlight 🎨

Another exhibitor highlight as we build up to our FABULOUS FUNDRAISER in May!

On Sunday 3rd May and Monday 4th May at Ranworth Village Hall, NR13 6HS, Wherry Maud Trust will again be hosting our ARTISTS & CRAFT MAKERS SHOW.

We’re delighted to introduce Georgia Mills – Gee Whizz Art ().

Georgia is an up-and-coming self-taught artist based in Norfolk. Working under Gee Whizz Art, she creates stunning stippling pieces using ink/pen on paper — each dot applied by a steady hand to build up both lifelike and abstract designs with an impressionist feel.

More recently, Georgia has been focusing on the natural world, taking inspiration from her new floristry ventures to develop exciting new botanical works with a twist.

We’re pleased to introduce David Holman.

David was born in North Norfolk and attended Sheringham High School, where he gained an ‘O’ level in Art. After retiring two years ago, David happened to watch “The Joy of Painting” by Bob Ross — and was so fascinated by the style that he picked up his brushes again after a 30-year break. We’re very glad he did!

David paints in oils, using the “wet on wet” technique, and is thoroughly enjoying being back at the easel.
