She was built for Walter C Bunn, a timber merchant who already owned her sister craft 'Dora'. A detailed overview of her working life can be found here: http://www.nationalhistoricships.org.uk/register/650/maud. Like many of her kind, she ended up in use as a mud barge and eventually was scuppered on Ranworth Broad in the mid 1960's. Brief respite came when she was momentarily raised, only to be f
illed with mud and sunk again. In 1981, the Pargeters (who we thank VERY much for their dedication) took the brave decision to raise 'Maud' from this ignominious position, and on 2nd June 1981 she once more took her more natural position of being afloat. It wasn't until 1999 until 'Maud' sailed again. Since then, she has sailed all around, been present at Maritime festivals, wherry re-launch parties, and sailing club water frolics, you name it! This page, is intended to promote "Maud" and encourage more to come forward and support her and indeed sail her.
