CALLING ALL LOCAL CHARITIES & ORGANISATIONS 📣

Could your charity or organisation benefit from a little more support?

We’re looking for local charities or organisations to work alongside us for a six-month period, giving you the opportunity to bring your cause into our store, meet members of the local community and gain some extra support for the incredible work you do.

Throughout the six months, we’ll work together to arrange multiple in-store events and fundraising opportunities designed to help you raise vital funds, increase awareness and connect with more people locally. This could include fundraising days, information and awareness events, seasonal activities and other opportunities where our colleagues and customers can get involved and show their support.

We know how important local charities and organisations are to the people and families in our community, and we’d love to help shine a spotlight on the work you do. Whether you’re raising money for an upcoming project, providing an important local service, supporting people through difficult times or simply looking for new ways to get your organisation noticed, we’d love to hear from you.

This is about more than just fundraising — it’s an opportunity to build awareness, create new connections and bring our store and community together behind a fantastic local cause.

If you’re part of a local charity or organisation that could benefit, or you know a brilliant local cause that deserves some extra support, please share this post with them or tag them below!

📧 To find out more or express your interest, email our Community Champion, Emma, at [email protected].

Together, we can make a real difference in our local community.

Community bookshelf- August charity partnership announcement 🧡

We are delighted to announce that this month’s community bookshelf partner is YMCA - Shine, a community youth project dedicated to helping young people thrive while supporting individuals and families across Lowestoft.

YMCA Shine is a Lowestoft-based youth centre located in the heart of the town, providing engaging youth sessions for young people aged 8–16. They offer a diverse programme of activities, including arts and crafts, cooking, and outdoor learning at their allotments. Every session is designed to help young people reach their full potential by building confidence, developing new skills, and fostering positive social connections in a safe, inclusive and enjoyable environment.

Beyond their youth work, YMCA Shine has become a vital part of the local community. Their Community Hub offers a free Community Fridge & Pantry, helping people access fresh, nutritious food, alongside seasonal hot meals. By reducing food waste and supporting those facing financial difficulties, they help ensure everyone has access to healthy food, regardless of their circumstances.

We’re honoured to support YMCA Shine through this month’s Community Bookshelf Fund. Every donation made by our customers helps organisations like YMCA Shine continue creating opportunities for young people, tackling food insecurity, and delivering practical support that strengthens our local community.

If you’d like to help support this fantastic cause, why not visit our Community Bookshelf on your next trip? Located by the exit, it’s filled with pre-loved books waiting to be enjoyed again. You can donate books you no longer need or make a small donation to take home your next great read. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, helps us raise funds for YMCA Shine and the incredible work they do.

Thank you to everyone who supports our Community Bookshelf initiative. Your generosity helps us give back to organisations making a real difference to the lives of local people.
