The countdown is officially on!

There’s just ONE WEEK LEFT to enter our in-store raffle in support of Crohn's & Colitis UK!

Over the past two weeks, Debbie has been working hard to raise vital funds and awareness for a cause that means so much to her and her family. The kindness and generosity shown so far have been incredible, and we couldn’t be more grateful for everyone’s support!

Community bookshelf- October charity partnership announcement 🥋🇰🇷

We’re delighted to announce Phoenix Karate Schools as this month’s Community Bookshelf partner!

Phoenix Karate Schools supports children from the age of four upwards across the Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft areas. Through karate, their students learn much more than martial arts – they build confidence, discipline, respect and self-control, while staying active and supporting their physical and mental wellbeing.

For many of these young people, their dedication can lead to opportunities to compete at local, national and international level, with some going on to represent both their club and country. These are fantastic achievements, but competition fees, travel and accommodation can make taking part costly for students and their families.

This October, several Phoenix Karate students have the exciting opportunity to compete at the WUKF European Championships in Sheffield. We’d love to help support them on their journey – and this is where our customers can help!

Please consider donating your pre-loved books to our Community Bookshelf in store. Money raised from the bookshelf this month will support Phoenix Karate Schools with their fundraising and help towards the costs of giving these dedicated young people the opportunity to compete.

£200 raised for 1st Oulton Broad Sea Scout Group! 🏕️

A massive thank you to our amazing customers for your continued support! Thanks to your generosity, our Community Bookshelf has raised £200 for 1st Oulton Broad Sea Scout Group

The group helps young people aged 4–14 build confidence, practical skills and positive relationships through Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. They’re also active in the wider community, working with organisations including St Marks, Broadlands Care Home and Oulton Broad Water Sports Centre to give young people opportunities to volunteer, learn and get involved locally.

This donation will go towards a replacement projector, which plays an important part in their programme — supporting educational sessions, training, safety videos, presentations, movie nights, sleepovers and celebrations of achievements such as the Chief Scout’s Gold Award and Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards.

Every donation helps the group continue providing valuable experiences, life skills and opportunities for local young people to grow in confidence and reach their potential.

What a wonderful day of fundraising and awareness for Crohn's & Colitis UK 💜

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us, donated, bought raffle tickets and helped make the day such a success. We’re incredibly proud to be raising awareness and funds for such an important cause, and especially proud of this amazing young man for getting involved to support his Granny Debbie.

And the raffle isn’t over yet! Tickets are still available from the Customer Service Desk, so there’s still time to enter and be in with a chance of winning our fabulous Pampering Night Hamper 🧖🏼‍♀️🛁🫧

LET’S GET BEHIND CAMERON & HIS GRANNY! 💜

We’re incredibly proud to be supporting 14-year-old Cameron, who has taken on a very special mission to raise money and awareness for Crohn's & Colitis UK, inspired by his beloved Granny Debbie.

Cameron has grown up seeing the challenges his Granny faces while living with Crohn’s Disease, and he decided he wanted to do something to make a difference. What started as a simple wish to help has grown into an incredible fundraising mission — and now we want our amazing Lowestoft community to get behind him too!

We’re excited to be hosting a special in-store raffle, where for just £1 per strip, you could be in with a chance of winning a fabulous pampering night hamper! 🧖🏼‍♀️🛁🫧

And this Saturday morning, why not pop into Tesco, pick up some raffle tickets from the entrance and take the opportunity to meet Cameron and Debbie. You can hear their inspiring story directly from them and find out why this cause means so much to Cameron.

£250 raised for YMCA- Shine 🧡

A massive thank you to our amazing customers for your continued support! Thanks to your generosity, our Community Bookshelf has raised £250 for YMCA Shine! 🎉

YMCA Shine supports young people aged 8–16 across Lowestoft, helping them build confidence, develop new skills and make positive connections through a range of fun and engaging activities.

This donation will go towards YMCA Shine’s Community Hub, which provides vital support to local individuals and families through a free Community Fridge & Pantry and seasonal hot meals — helping tackle food insecurity and reduce food waste.

Thank you to everyone who donated a pre-loved book, bought a book or made a donation. Every contribution, big or small, has helped make this possible!

Community bookshelf- September charity partnership announcement 🏕️

We’re delighted to announce that this month community bookshelf partner is 1st Oulton Broad Sea Scout Group, A scout group helping young people aged 4–14 build confidence, practical skills and positive relationships through Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

CALLING ALL LOCAL CHARITIES & ORGANISATIONS 📣

Could your charity or organisation benefit from a little more support?

We’re looking for local charities or organisations to work alongside us for a six-month period, giving you the opportunity to bring your cause into our store, meet members of the local community and gain some extra support for the incredible work you do.

Throughout the six months, we’ll work together to arrange multiple in-store events and fundraising opportunities designed to help you raise vital funds, increase awareness and connect with more people locally. This could include fundraising days, information and awareness events, seasonal activities and other opportunities where our colleagues and customers can get involved and show their support.

We know how important local charities and organisations are to the people and families in our community, and we’d love to help shine a spotlight on the work you do. Whether you’re raising money for an upcoming project, providing an important local service, supporting people through difficult times or simply looking for new ways to get your organisation noticed, we’d love to hear from you.

This is about more than just fundraising — it’s an opportunity to build awareness, create new connections and bring our store and community together behind a fantastic local cause.

In July we welcomed 4th Lowestoft Scout Group in- store for a fundraising collection, to help them raise money for their summer camp 🏕️🌳

We’d like to say a massive thankyou to our wonderful customers who stopped to chat, show their support and generously donated. Thanks to your kindness, the Scouts raised a fantastic £700! 👏🏼

It’s wonderful to see our customers getting behind local groups that give young people opportunities to learn new skills, enjoy new adventures, build friendships and make lasting memories.

Three Incredible Causes. One Blue Token. Who Will You Support? 💙

This August- November, we’re proud to support three incredible local projects:

⭐️ Inspire Suffolk– Our youth club will provide safe spaces for local young people, with healthy snacks, activities and trusted youth workers supporting wellbeing, confidence and positive connections

🌳 The Limes Primary Academy- Our aim is to support all families in the local area by opening our hub twice a week: providing food and other essential items

🍎 St Benedicts Pre-School- To provide healthy fruit and cereal at breakfast club, daily healthy fruit and a snack, to support our community sharing shop for our families

If you’re shopping with us, please pop your blue token into our box. It’s a simple way to support local children, young people, and families.
