Care And Real Lovin' is a charity founded by Dean 'Carl' Lawson in March 2012. Carl is suffering from terminal cancer, and recently we found out that at 37 years old, only has between a few weeks and a few months to live. The reason the charity was created is so we can help those who are struggling financially due to poor health, to have a break and help them to forget about the illness for even a
few hours, this may include careers, people with illnesses, children looking after parents and anyone who's life revolves around the illness like ours has for the last two years. Carl was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 and, despite undergoing a gruelling schedule of chemotherapy and surgery he has been given only a small period of time to live. Carl's doctor diagnosed his cancer as Ewing’s sarcoma, which is a rare disease where cancer cells and found in the bone or soft tissue. He then underwent a rare operation in December 2010, in which a doctor had to practice on a cadaver as he had not seen a similar case in his 20 years of medicine. Rather than dwell on the fact he only has single figure months to live he has decided to spend this time raising as much money as possible to help people in need both in and around Lowestoft and the Waveney area. As part of this fundraising the charity organised a 5 day event at The Mariners Rest, Lowestoft over the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend. The weekend included live music from over 20 local acts, family entertainment, raffle and barrel run. The aim is to raise as much money as possible in order for the charity to start its good work. The charity intends to use money to purchase Mobility Scooters, which can be loaned to people who need them, free of charge. We also aim to spend money on food hampers, days out or other small grants for seriously ill people, as well as helping their family’s and carers by sending them on spa days or trips away. The charity is a not-for-profit organisation, set up and run by volunteers. We are funded by events such as the one mentioned above, donations from the public and fee's paid by our members.
