This is exciting to see the changes happening in our centre

Introducing our new project....
Rob's Garden.

Its small but the impact can be big.
At the rear of our Lowestoft Foodbank centre, "The Old Butchers" there is a small outdoor space collecting rubbish and looking very un-loved.

The team at the Foodbank have had many conversations with their visitors and there was a common theme.... I wish I had a garden.

Well here it is. Thanks to East Suffolk Council & Screwfix we have been able to begin work transforming the wasted space. Our friends who said they wanted a garden have described what they wanted and together we are making it happen.

We believe this will support people in growing confidence and knowledge, build community and save a few quid on good nutritious food.

Fancy getting involved?
Maybe you know a thing or two about growing veg, or would like to build some planters, or paint the walls, or fix the canopy roof, plumb in the outside tap, join the water butt to the guttering or bring your ongoing expertise or enthusiasm.

We love being part of The Rob Clarke Community Trust alongside Lowestoft FISH - Food in School Holidays. It’s been a fun year. Thank you team.

Today marks the first anniversary since we took on two brilliant and vital projects. Lowestoft FISH - Food in School Holidays has served almost 2000 meals, built community and had a whole lot of fun working with some wonderful people, churches and hosts. Lowestoft Foodbank has continued to support 1000s of people with emergency food but not just that, the partnership with Citizens Advice East Suffolk has seen brilliant results. Managing debt, securing financial gains, advising on all sorts of issues and the best bit... at least 20% of those people have not needed to return to the foodbank. The Wednesday night drop in cafe has had its busiest year yet. Jacket Potatoes, Bacon Rolls, Chicken Burgers, and hundreds of teas and coffees, friends made, warmth and safety. Our teams of volunteers are incredible, our donors are amazing, our supporters; wonderful.

Thank you everyone, we really do appreciate all the love, support and encouragment you have given. It means the world.

Heres to the next year of serving wonderful people and building a community where no one is left behind.

We have two new volunteer opportunities available at Lowestoft & District Foodbank

✨ Referral Pathways Assistant
Working alongside our Project Manager, you’ll help maintain and develop relationships with our fantastic referral partners (the agencies that issue foodbank vouchers).
This role involves engaging with partners, troubleshooting system issues, and nurturing relationships to ensure we provide the best possible support to our service users.

✨ Admin Assistant
You’ll help keep on top of our email inboxes, answer calls, respond to queries, and input data into our system. We don’t like to keep people waiting - especially when they’ve reached out for support - so this role is vital to the people we serve.

⏰ Both roles are flexible and can fit around your life. If you can spare a few hours a week and would love to serve the local community, we’d really love to hear from you.

What a great morning. Really proud to be part of the very first Lowestoft Santa Dash. Well done to Ewan and his team sports_lowestofttowncouncil for organising.

We are waiting for final confirmation but we are looking at just over £1000 raised by all the runners and everyone that had a go guessing how many beans were in the jar.

Our winner, Oliver was closest to the number - for those that are wondering 2167 beans in the jar!

Not only was it another event to make us proud of our town it has supported some of the most vulnerable people in your community.
