Twenty four scouts, two Young Leaders, nine Leaders and 6 parents had a great weekend camp at Eaton Vale, Norwich. The scouts camped in patrol tents and cooked all their meals in large feeding shelters which they set up on Friday afternoon. First night they had a wide game and played football. Glorious weather all day Saturday made Canadian canoeing along the river Yare a nice experience, followed by tomahawk throwing which became very competitive when playing cards were involved. The afternoon activities were tunnelling in the cave bus and crate staking. An evening meal of tomato chicken and chorizo pasta followed by waffles, icecream and sauce. This was all quickly worked off by more football and free time sports. Supper of fire melted smores were just finished before the rains came which meant a hasty retreat to tents. Sunday morning started misty and the tents had taken a heavy soaking overnight but following cooked breakfasts the sun appeared and before the break of camp all were dry. Parents arrived and the camp was closed. A trek back to the Den with a nice lot of help from parents and scouts completed the clear up and storing of gear in 25 minutes. Thanks to the Scouts who worked brilliantly in their patrols under the leadership of their Patrol Leaders and Assistants and to the leaders for giving up their weekend to teach camping skills.

Windsor King Scout Parade, Congratulations to brothers Jasper and Fergus Barber who had the honour of being at the parade wearing their 14th neckers on Sunday following their presentation of the award last month. The day was also enjoyed by Mum - Beaver Leader Rusty and Dad Adrian. Both are now Scout Leaders within our Scout Section.

The Troop HQ was transformed into a Masterchef venue as each patrol prepared and cooked a two course meal. Patrols were marked on cooking, taste, presentation, cleanliness and clearing up. An excellent evening was had and they excelled themselves with a variety of meals from around the world. Final points were Eagles 112, Kestrels 114, Hawks 124 and Ravens 135. The leaders now have the difficult task of choosing three chefs to represent the Troop at the District competition later in the month.

Over seventy, young members, parents and supporters of the 14th Lowestoft Scout Group met at Bonds Meadow for two events - we started with the presentation of King Scout awards to Jasper and Fergus Barber by the County and District Commissioners. This is the highest youth award and only 400 are awarded each year in the UK - Congratulations to them both from all the Group - Both joined as Beavers and went on to all sections before finally now being leaders with the Group.

The next event was the planting of over 400 saplings - Rowan, Hawthorn, Silver birch and Wild Cherry as part of our support to the community. All sections use this wonderful amenity for wide games and bivouac building. Our own leader Peter is the Project Manager of Bonds Meadow and explained where each of the tree types were to be planted and off the scouts and Mums and Dads went for the next two hours.
