Slightly late in posting about our April meeting, but it did happen and it was a good one!

We have a talk from sheep farmer Rosemary 'Rosie' Lee, who told us about her work as 'The Reluctant Shepherdess'. Born into a dairy farming family, Rosie originally pursued a career in banking and then took over the family farm after her father died. She took a four-year agricultural degree at Reaseheath, and then set up as a sheep farmer. Her stories of trials and tribulations had us all in stitches, and we were amazed as to how much she managed to fit into a single day!

A great time was had by all at our March meeting - in fact, we could 'bearly' contain ourselves! Our demo/talk was about the art of sugarcraft. With the aim of a live demonstration and video tutorial, all of us succeeded in making a cute little teddy bear cake topper - some of us were more surprised than others! Our competition for a 'favourite teddy bear' drew dozens of entries, and the prize went to a very stately Edwardian gentleman bear who was over 100 years old! It was also the debut of our new WI vase, decorated at our January meeting with the help of

Happy birthday to us! We're 80 this year (we know, we don't look it), and our party went with a swing.
Lisa and Liz from gave a fabulous demonstration of throwing a pot. Then we all had a go, making flowers and leaves to be added to a communal pot ready to be taken away and fired. We're looking forward to seeing it with a display of flowers at future meetings.
Finally, like all good birthday parties, there was cake! A big thank you to local business Tayla Made Cakes @21.tayla.made.cakes.21 for our lovely cake.
