Dodging the downpours yesterday while out water sampling on the Waithe Beck! 🌧️ The data we collect helps us build a better understanding of stream health and supports land managers in seeing the bigger picture of how land use can influence the health of our waterways.

Nice to see the Ranunculus in bloom! (white flowers)

Great day at yesterday at Sir Richard Suttons Estates. Loads of fantastic families exploring the invertebrates that make our home. (Not to mention all the other activities on offer at the event).

Big thank you to Jane and Niamh for their help!

Looking forward to next year!

Last week we had a brilliant couple of days with Barmpot Theatre and The Canoe River Cleaner on Laceby beck near one of Lincolnshire's rare blow well springs, teaching several school groups all about and the important life they support.

Barmpot Theatre were successful in the application to Grimsby Creates Heritage Place Hidden Stories grant and are delivering a project all about our chalk streams so we've been very happy to support this excellent initiative. Next exciting step of the project is Barmpot theatre working in schools with poets and artists, can' t wait to see the results of the children's work!

Out and about today surveying for water voles with one of our marvellous volunteers.

Not many signs today on Waithe beck but definitely looking like ideal habitat.

The results will be submitted to the National Water Vole Monitoring Programme run by the People's Trust for Endangered Species. With a lot of mink control going on in the county, thanks to current projects such as Operation Water Vole run by our partners at the Greater Lincolnshire Nature Partnership ,we're hoping to see an increase in water vole numbers.

The project is funded through the initiative run by the Lincolnshire Wolds National Landscape

Out today collecting water data with landowner on the River Bain .

Invertebrate numbers looking good but phosphate levels seemed a little high.

Part of a group of landowners recording water quality data on the upper Bain so back to chalkstreams HQ to compare data up and downstream.
