Many species now depend on our gardens.

For many birds, gardens are no longer just a bonus feeding place, they are part of the wider network of food, water, shelter and safety that helps them get through the year.

That’s why responsible feeding matters.

Fresh food.
Clean feeders.
Fresh water.
Little and often.
No build-up beneath feeders.

When natural habitats are under pressure, our gardens can become important stepping stones for nature.

Keep them strong.
Keep it clean.

📹🐦 A little garden wildlife observation…

Over the last few weeks we’ve watched this Great Spotted Woodpecker feeding in the trees and foraging naturally around the garden.

Today, with the rain falling steadily, it headed straight for the feeder.

Meanwhile, look closely beneath the feeder and you’ll spot a blackbird waiting patiently for any dropped morsels.

It’s a reminder that garden feeding isn’t just about one bird. Different species use the same feeding area in different ways, and on wet days a reliable source of food can become particularly attractive.

🥕🍊 Fresh orange. Organic carrots. Spinach. Apple. Kiwi fruit.

Meanwhile, somebody here had a packet of crisps and a meal deal...

Our friend and Haith's customer for around 60 years, Chris Snell, may just feed his budgies better than we feed ourselves.

Watch the video and see how Chris prepares soft food for around 300 budgies.

Keep feeding birds. Just do it properly.

There’s been a lot of discussion about garden bird feeding recently, and it’s understandable that many people feel confused.

Our view is simple: feeding birds isn’t the problem. Feeding them poorly is.

Fresh food.
Clean feeders.
Fresh water.
Little and often.
No build-up.
Move feeding spots where possible.

Responsible feeding can still play an important role, especially when natural food is under pressure and birds are busy raising young.

It’s not just what you feed.
It’s how you feed.

Feed birds. Not the ground.

Save 15% on selected Huskfree Advance No Mess Mixes 🐦

With so much discussion around garden bird feeding, one thing is clear: clean, responsible feeding matters.

One simple way to help is to choose foods that leave less behind.

Our Huskfree Advance mixes are 100% edible, with no substantial husks left beneath feeders — helping keep feeding areas tidier and more convenient.

Save 15% on:

Huskfree Advance™ with Dried Mealworms
Huskfree Advance™ with Suet Pellets

Both mixes combine seed with either dried mealworms or suet pellets, helping spread those favourite ingredients throughout the mix rather than letting them disappear in minutes.

Less waste.
More convenience.
A varied food in every beakful.

It’s not just what you feed.
It’s how you feed.
