It is with much sadness that we / Our Hall Louth must share the news that our efforts to purchase Louth's RBL Hall have been unsuccessful.
Over a year ago, upon seeing the hall be boarded up, and with the realisation that change was inevitable a vision emerged to maintain and revive a much loved building and support Louth's arts, music, cultural and entrepreneurial community. This seemed like a good idea - and we still believe it was.
To prove the project's viability and to get the right people and authorities to support this vision was a massive challenge that we thought was worth every ounce of effort we gave it, and it was quite a journey.
We are very, very grateful for all of the help, support and encouragement that you / the local community has given along the way.
We are also very proud of you and all the work that was produced validating and supporting the vision and idea that the hall was important to you / us all and worth fighting for.
Some serious time and effort went into all of this... consultations, grant applications, meetings, door knocking, phone calling, arm twisting and information gathering and we are proud of everything produced and stand by all of it.
Everyone involved has learned a lot and still believe that the goals which the project sought to achieve still matter, and although this time, the hall will not be the home for this - we hope that Louth's artistic community will be creative (as it always has) and find alternative ways to feed and support our local cultural and artistic scene.
Change is inevitable.
We gave it a shot.
We're glad we did.
