What does it mean to celebrate the anniversary of your struggle? To us, it is both a reminder of our resilience, and of the bittersweet truth that our struggle still has to endure.

This summer, as Stay Grounded, we're celebrating our ten year anniversary by visiting members across Europe - knitting together grassroots struggles across the continent to draw a red line for airports.

Fittingly, our first stop was also an anniversary. In Paris, we celebrated ADVOCNAR's forty years of campaigning for victims of aviation nuisance. 40 years! Incredible.

The event was also connected to a talk by Anthony Viaux, a former airline pilot who resigned after realising the impact of the aviation sector on the climate. Anthony's brave decision is a very personal symbol of the process our society needs to go through so that we can live based on justice and responsibility, rather than reckless growth and inequality.

Keep an eye out for upcoming tour stops as we continue reflecting on our network and the struggle we are part of. Maybe you can even join us in-person!

No Transport for Genocide! 🟥🟥🟥

Because of a speech denouncing DHL for the transport of weapons to Israel, Christopher, a worker in this company at Leipzig Airport, was suspended and has since been dismissed without notice.

Aviation is a core part of the fossil capitalist system we live in and an active agent in trashing the planet and people's lives. On top of that, it's also a key part of the military-industrial complex, with planes used as both weapons and means to transport weapons that exterminate innocent people across the globe.

We stand in solidarity with Christopher. Join us and sign the solidarity statement ahead of his court hearing: https://www.gewerkschafter4gaza.de/dhl-petition

Cutting flights is the fastest way to cut a city's carbon footprint.

Just look at Paris: the emissions of the city's airports are three times higher than ALL OTHER emissions from the city combined.

A RED LINE FOR AIRPORTS ❌✈️

We dream of a fair and liveable future for all, rooted in care and the needs of people, not profit.

But aviation is driving climate breakdown, touristification, land grabbing and militarisation. It’s a core part of the hypermobile fossil capitalist system we live in, and a direct obstacle to that future.

As climate extremes intensify, it’s past time to draw a red line: stop all airport expansion, reduce air traffic.

SIGN THE MANIFESTO! ❌✈️

https://stay-grounded.org/red-lines-for-airports

Aviation is the pinnacle of climate injustice:
🌏 80% of people have never flown
🤑 1% cause 50% of aviation emissions

Yet the industry is planning massive expansion, built on greenwashing and false solutions.

We don’t need offsets or techno-fixes. We need real cuts in air traffic.

In recent weeks, we’ve seen how political instability and a deepening climate crisis expose aviation’s dependence on fossil fuels as a key point of fragility.

The question isn’t whether aviation will shrink, it’s whether we shape that transition: planned, fair and democratic, or chaotic and imposed by crisis.

Across the world, communities are drawing a red line and putting forward 10 measures to phase out aviation, grounded in planetary boundaries.

We call on everybody to join us: stop airport expansion, end the most destructive and pointless flights and make way for a fair and liveable future for all.

Read & sign the manifesto “A Red Line for Airports” – 95+ groups already joined us!
