Azman Shahan (NCL Skipper) : A Masterclass batting performance 108* off 90 balls with 14 fours and 4 sixes. He rebuilt the innings through two long partnerships (notably taking the score from the deep collapse to a competitive 201), shepherded the tail and carried his side to a respectable total. Azman’s all-round display (Ton and a key breakthrough) was the standout performance of the match.

Azman’s innings demonstrated excellent strike selection and responsibility under pressure. Came in early and anchored: was 2* at 21-3 and stayed unbeaten to the end (108*).

Steady rebuilding then acceleration: progressed to 62* at the 120-7 stand, then 88* at 163-8, finishing 108* at the close.

Shepherded the tail: managed partnerships with lower-order batters, farming the strike when needed to protect less-set partners and ensure scoring momentum.

Match impact: transformed a fragile 21-3 into a competitive 201-9, carrying the innings through pressure and guiding the side to a defendable total.

What a way to start the season of our veteran batsmen Ferdous Rajib in NationalCricketLeague who scored a unbeaten 108 in 79 balls. An unbeaten century in the in first game often sets the tone for the whole tournament, both personally and for the team.

Roding Valley Cricket Club Celebrates Historic Milestone with Second Ground After 76 Years

Roding Valley Cricket Club (RVCC) has reached a monumental milestone in its illustrious 76-year journey by finally securing a second ground. This achievement marks a significant chapter in the club’s history, fulfilling a long-standing aspiration to expand its facilities and provide a dedicated space for its Junior, 3rd and 4th XI teams.

The vision of establishing a second square has been a dream for years, championed by the club’s inspirational leaders Ian Selby, Syed Islam, Ferdous Rajib, Shahin Khan, Shahidul Chowdhury and Mick Curtis. Their unwavering commitment along with other management and senior members to the growth and development of RVCC has been instrumental in turning this dream into a reality.

The club’s momentum took a major leap forward when it successfully engaged Essex Cricket legends Arfan Akram and Graham Pryke, whose invaluable advice and guidance provided the framework for this ambitious project.

A project of this magnitude required the support and collaboration of key stakeholders, and RVCC is deeply grateful to Loughton Town Council’s Town Clerk, Mark Squire, for his assistance in navigating the process. Additionally, the club extends its heartfelt thanks to its long-term ground maintenance advisor, Phil Maule of 1st Grass, for his expertise and dedication in helping to prepare the second square to the highest standards.

Since 2014, RVCC has undergone a remarkable transformation, experiencing significant growth and development. This progress would not have been possible without the steadfast loyalty and support of its trusted club members, who have been the backbone of the club throughout its journey. The club also acknowledges the generous contributions of its sponsors, including Dockland Homes, Jumbo Travels, ACS Sports, and X-Line Sports, whose support has been crucial in achieving this milestone.

The addition of the second ground is not just a physical expansion but a testament to the club’s commitment to fostering cricket and community spirit. It will provide a platform for more players and junior members to participate in the sport and ensure the continued growth of RVCC for generations to come.

To commemorate this historic achievement, RVCC will be hosting an official ceremony to launch the second ground in early 2026. The event will be a celebration of the club’s rich history, the tireless efforts of its leadership, and the unwavering support of its members and sponsors.

This momentous occasion is a proud reflection of RVCC’s resilience, determination, and vision. It stands as a shining example of what can be achieved through collaboration, passion, and a shared love for the game of cricket. Here’s to many more successes in the years to come for Roding Valley Cricket Club!
