National Independent Lifeboat Association, of which we are a member, have gathered some statistics which we thought we'd share.

The hovercraft infographic relates to our very own facility in Loughor.

We are happy to share with you the combined stats for our members for 2025

To celebrate Volunteers Week, we thought we'd share some of our crew's reasons for volunteering.

Shout out to all the volunteers who give up their spare time to do something positive πŸ‘

Teamwork πŸ‘

We were tasked to Loughor Bridge last night at 9pm to assist with a search for persons believed to have gone in to the water. After a comprehensive search alongside Burry Port Coastguard and Loughor inshore Rescue Hovercraft and Lifeboat we concluded the report to be a false alarm with good intent.

Phone, Float, Throw.

πŸ“ž PHONE 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
πŸ§˜β€β™‚οΈ Tell them to stay calm and FLOAT on their back.
πŸ›Ÿ THROW rescue equipment or anything that floats.

❗️Think Before You Jump In ❗️

People tragically drown while trying to rescue someone else
or an animal in difficulty. These actions can turn fatal if the
rescuer is untrained or overwhelmed by water conditions.

Remember: Phone, Float, Throw

A lovely afternoon at the rugby yesterday as both our independent lifeboat crew and Burry Port RNLI crew were presented with donation cheques in support of lifesaving services.

We may serve under different organisations, but we share the same commitment to helping those in need on the water. Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome, generosity, and continued support for all our volunteer crews.

A special thank you goes to Tanner Banc Scarlets supporters 😊 for their generous donation and thanks to Rosie πŸ‘ for nominating us.

Burry Port RNLI let's have a collaborative training session soon?

This week our volunteer crew undertook some capsize recovery training.

With our IRB towing a small boat, crew members undertook a vessel inversion, getting under the hull to the other side of the boat and re-boarding before being towed back to the station.

Our crew has been busy. Last night, they were thrilled to receive a generous donation from money raised over various events, by Cllr Wilf Smith and the council.

Pictured are two crew members with Sandra Beynon, Deputy Mayor, presenting a cheque on behalf of Mayor Wilf Smith with one of our lifeboat trustees.

Today, some of our crew attended Pontybrenin Primary School's spring fete, so big thanks to them.

Last night’s training was about locating a casualty using a thermal imaging camera.
The estuary is a vast and dark expanse and on a cold night, the pressure is on the crew.

The scenario given to the team was to find a missing fisherman who turned out to be located under a tree in the river with a broken leg.

Using thermal imaging techniques, the casualty was found, treated and safely brought back to shore.
