At just 29, Princess Opeyemi Bright was officially inaugurated as the Civic Mayor of Barking & Dagenham, becoming the youngest Civic Mayor in the UK.

Born in the UK to Nigerian parents, she began her political journey at 22 and has championed youth empowerment, diversity, and community engagement ever since.

This is Black excellence in action. 💫

As 2024 comes to an end, we’re reflecting on past interviews at Black Excellence UK to inspire your journey into 2025.

Dominic Miller an actuarial analyst, currently an Assistant Professor, once shared a powerful reminder: “Don’t put barriers on yourself. Anything you truly put your mind to can be achieved.”

Dr. Ashiedu Joel reminded us that leadership isn’t about titles—it’s about action. "Step into the spaces that require your abilities, qualities, and enablements," Dr. Joel urged.

Everyone in the room possesses these traits, but she challenged us: "Do you recognise them in yourself, or are you waiting for someone to point them out?" A powerful question to reflect on.

Celebrating Dr Oladejo Olaleye: Global Healthcare Icon 2024!
