Castle Hill War Memorial – 100th Anniversary Commemoration
15th August 2026
On 15th August 2026, the Castle Hill War Memorial will reach its 100th anniversary.
Erected in 1926 to honour the local men who lost their lives in World War I—and later updated to include those who fell during World War II—this memorial stands at the heart of Mountsorrel’s history and remembrance.
To mark this significant milestone, Mountsorrel Parish Council, together with the Mountsorrel Branch of the Royal British Legion, will be holding a remembrance and commemoration ceremony.

All Mountsorrel residents are warmly invited to attend.
• Live Broadcast at the Mountsorrel Memorial Centre (MMC)
For those who prefer not to go up Castle Hill, the full service will be shown live in the MMC main hall.

A small remembrance concert will take place later in the afternoon. Invitations will be sent out in due course.
