💕EYES DOWN FOR A CAUSE💕

2 years since we lost our beloved Janet Redding, the heart and soul of CLCGB Longridge. Not a day goes by where we don’t miss her.

Janet’s wonderful daughter Emma is again hosting a fun filled afternoon Bingo in memory of her mum (see below poster) with proceeds being donated to both St Catherine’s hospice and CLCGB Longridge.

The theme is ABBA so fancy dress is optional and a true reflection of Janet who absolutely loved a bit of ABBA

We look forward to seeing many of you there to support two charities close to Janet’s family and to have some fun whilst doing so! 🥰

🌟 National Volunteers’ Week 🌟

This week, we want to say a huge THANK YOU to every one of our incredible volunteers at Brigade.

Our leaders and helpers give up their time week after week to provide opportunities, support, guidance and encouragement to our young people. What many people don’t see is the countless hours that happen behind the scenes too.

From planning activities, organising trips and camps, preparing craft projects and activities, to completing safeguarding responsibilities, undertaking training such as First Aid and Food Hygiene, managing administration, attending meetings, and ensuring everything runs smoothly – our volunteers do it all.

They give up evenings, weekends and personal time, not because they have to, but because they care about making a difference.

Brigade simply could not operate without the dedication, commitment and passion of these amazing individuals. Every activity enjoyed, every friendship made and every memory created is possible because of their hard work and generosity.

To all our volunteers – thank you for your time, your energy, your patience, your commitment and your hearts. You are truly appreciated, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you do.

☀️ WATER SAFETY DURING THE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS 🌊

Following the recent tragic news of young lives lost during the bank holiday weekend, it highlights once again the importance of educating children, young people and families about the dangers of open water.

Rivers, lakes, reservoirs, canals and coastal areas can be far more dangerous than they appear — especially during warm weather when more people are spending time outdoors.

As part of our commitment to safeguarding and protecting our members, we have created this water safety guide to help raise awareness and encourage safe choices over the school holidays.

✅ Never swim alone
✅ Be aware of cold water shock
✅ Avoid strong currents and unknown water
✅ Know what to do in an emergency

We encourage all leaders, members, parents and supporters to take a few moments to read and share this important information.

Together, through awareness and education, we can help prevent further tragedies and keep our young people safe this summer.

We are very proud that the CLCGB National Band held their annual concert in Longridge this year. The concert was amazing and we look forward to hopefully seeing you here again in Longridge.

We have 7 members of Longridge company current members of the National Band.

Each year the members meet 6 times to practice before showcasing their talents and hard work to an audience.

Well done to everyone involved 👏🏼🎶

Yesterday we held our annual Afternoon Tea Fundraiser where we hosted 60 people at St Paul’s Church and served them homemade cakes, scones, trifles, sandwiches, sausage rolls, quiche and Prosecco!

We also held a raffle with 30 prizes and a guess the weight of the cake.

We are pleased to say we managed to raise over £1200 for our general funds.

🎵BRIGADE ANNUAL CONCERT🎵

This year, Longridge has the honour of hosting the Church Lads’ and Church Girls’ Brigade National Band Annual Concert at the Civic Hall on Sunday 3rd May 2026 — and we’d love to see our amazing community there to support it!

This special concert will showcase talented musicians from across the country playing a wide range of instruments. Even better, members of our very own local brigade company will be performing in the band.

We’d love to demonstrate to the wider Brigade organisation just how well our local company is supported here in Longridge — so let’s fill the hall and give these musicians the audience they deserve! 🎺🥁🎷
