The Project is a Advice Quality Standard accredited Charity in Birmingham that provides information, advice and guidance relating to homelessness, benefits, financial wellbeing and financial inclusion. The Project, also known as South Birmingham Young Homeless Project, is a quality assured advice centre specialising in Homeless Prevention, Welfare Benefits and Debt. Our aim is to prevent homelessn

ess and improve the lives of vulnerable people, we do this by offering free impartial advice and support:

Housing and Homeless Prevention
Initial housing advice and information
Discuss housing options
Referrals for access to accommodation
Assistance with form filling
Access to computers to bid for properties
Resettlement support

Welfare Benefits
General benefit advice
Assistance with form filling
Better off calculations
Challenging adverse decisions
Representations at benefit appeals
Support and advice on benefit appeals
Income maximisation

Options for dealing with your debts
Creating your own budget to manage your finances
Prioritising debts and setting up payment plans
Powers of enforcement and how to deal with them
Negotiating reduced repayment with your creditors
Anything you are unsure about when it comes to debt

Crisis Support
Possible access to essential household items
Referral to food banks

The Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) has been activated until Friday 9th of January.

This means that anyone sleeping rough should be able to access safe and secure accommodation in Birmingham.

If you are concerned about someone sleeping rough, the new website will help you make an alert for support.
