This week is Volunteers' Week where we recognise, celebrate and thank volunteers throughout the UK. The United Nations have also declared 2026 the International Volunteer Year - recognising volunteerism as a key driver of sustainable development. Simply put, Pendon Museum wouldn't exist without the hard work and dedication of our volunteer staff - they are the heart, soul and backbone of the Museum and we owe so much to them all, past, present and future! Thank you Pendon Museum Volunteers šŸ™

Tomorrow: We are running half-hour scenic model making sessions for children aged 6-14 from 11am with the last session at 3.30pm. These are FREE and included with the price of admission. The sessions are run by expert modellers who are part of the Pendon team. Each participant will work on their own small diorama to take home. Sessions are available on a first-come, first-served basis while space is available - please ask at reception and you will be allocated a timed ticket on arrival. Please note that each child must be accompanied by an adult. We'll also have real objects from the 1920s and 1930s to handle that help tell the story of everyday rural village life, represented in miniature form in our huge Vale scene.

A reminder we are open from 11am - 4pm on both bank holiday Mondays in May (4th & 25th), as well as our usual weekend openings. See if you can spot the recently installed larger scale models of a typical rural cottage interior and vicar's study, which show a great deal of detail illustrating what life was like in the 1920s and 1930s rural southern England.

Spotlight on the brilliant Smaller Things who will be at our Doll's House Exhibition 29th & 30th August.
