We believe that tenants, residents and those living with them should never live in fear of violence from a partner, former partner, or other members of their household, including carers.

Weʼre standing with organisations across the country to say abuse has no place in relationships, at home, at work, or in our communities. Together, we .

Blow the Whistle is a national campaign led by First Light using one of sport’s most recognisable symbols to stand up for people’s safety and dignity. It uses the shared language and power of sport to challenge domestic abuse and sexual violence, encourage people to recognise abuse, and remind communities that support is always available.

If you think you are experiencing domestic abuse, or if you would like to report it on behalf of someone you believe is, you can report it to us on our website here:

Additionally, our Neighbourhood Officers have all completed specialist domestic abuse training and can help support and refer you to domestic abuse services.

Throughout June, we celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and recognise the importance of creating workplaces where everyone feels seen, valued and able to be themselves. These are also important considerations for how we support our tenants.

At Saffron Housing, we want all tenants to feel safe, respected and included in their homes and communities. Recently, we hosted a staff webinar focused on ‘purposeful visibility’. We explored how normalising the presence, voices, and contributions of marginalised communities can shift perceptions and build a workplace where diverse representation is simply the standard.

But equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) don't stop when Pride Month ends. The work we do throughout the year helps ensure we are better equipped to meet the needs of our diverse tenant base. Across the year, our teams have engaged in:

🏳️‍🌈Everyday Inclusion interactive sessions.
🏳️‍🌈Launching brand new EDI eLearning modules.
🏳️‍🌈LGBT+ History Month highlighting vital historical figures.

By continuing to learn and reflect, we aim to provide services that recognise and respect the diverse identities of our community.

♻️ Changes to bin collections from 1st June in East Suffolk ♻️

New recycling changes are now in place across Suffolk. For tenants or residents who live in East Suffolk, here’s what you need to know:👇

👉More recycling, less waste: Households now need to separate recycling into different bins.

👉New bins delivered: You should have received an extra recycling bin (green lid) for paper and card, plus food waste caddies (light grey).

👉Most homes now have 3 bins + 2 food caddies (and an optional garden waste bin if subscribed).

What goes where?

🟦 Blue bin (or blue lid): plastics, cartons, cans, plastic film – plus glass bottles and jars
🟩 Green lid bin (new): paper, cardboard, shredded paper, books
⚫ Grey/black bin: general waste (non-recyclable, non-food)
🪣 Food caddies: all food waste

📣Important:

The new system means less non-recyclable waste, therefore general waste will now be collected every 3 weeks.

Collection days may change, so check your updated schedule via the My East Suffolk bin checker: https://my.eastsuffolk.gov.uk/service/Bin_collection_dates_finder

Power banks and portable chargers can be a real lifesaver—but like any electrical device, they need to be used safely. Take a moment to brush up on a few simple tips to keep your devices (and yourself) protected 👇

✅ Charge in a well-ventilated space, and never charge your devices under a pillow or on your bed where they can potentially overheat
✅ Don’t leave a battery on prolonged charge when not in use
✅ Keep away from heat, water, and direct sunlight
✅ Use correct cables and supervise children.

Avoid risks by remembering:
❌ Don’t overcharge or leave charging unattended/overnight
❌ Don’t expose to extreme temperatures
❌ Don’t carry loose with keys or coins
❌ Don’t drop, cover, or attempt repairs

⚠️ If a battery leaks, avoid contact and seek medical advice.

Power banks & portable chargers will keep you from getting stranded when you’re on the go and without a convenient charging source. Read our advice on using them safely.
