Earlier this month, Sgt Mills joined cadets across the region to take part in a four-day trip to Belgium, exploring the historic battlefields of the Ypres Salient and learning more about the events and sacrifices of the First World War.

During the visit, Sgt Mills paid his respects at the Menin Gate in Ypres, witnessing the moving Last Post Ceremony, held in remembrance of the thousands of Commonwealth servicemen who lost their lives in the Salient and have no known grave.

The trip also included visits to national memorials, including the Newfoundland Memorial, providing an opportunity to reflect on the experiences of those who served and the immense sacrifices made by so many.

A valuable opportunity to deepen historical understanding, honour the fallen and ensure their stories continue to be remembered.

More achievements for 2195! ✈️👏

This weekend, FS Tarrant has been developing her leadership knowledge and skills on the Wing Advanced NCO Course — and was awarded Top Student! An award which reflects Tarrant’s dedication and hard work, congratulations!🏆

Throughout the course, she covered a range of important subjects, including:
🔹 Presence and approachability
🔹 Preventing and resolving problems through leadership and communication
🔹 Developing others and personal development
🔹 Writing development plans

These subjects are an important part of developing effective NCOs, strengthening leadership skills and supporting the development of others within the Squadron.

A fantastic achievement and recognition of her commitment to learning and leadership. Well done, FS Tarrant! 💙👏

This weekend, our cadets had an exciting opportunity to visit 644 Volunteer Gliding Squadron and experience the world of gliding up close!

As well as learning more about gliding and taking their first flight, the cadets got hands-on experience. They assisted with ground handling and learning about the procedures involved in launching gliders.
These activities gave them a valuable insight into the teamwork, communication and attention to detail required to operate safely on the airfield.

Experiences like these are a fantastic way for our cadets to develop new skills, build confidence and bring their aviation knowledge to life! 👏

A huge thank you to the team at 644 VGS for welcoming our cadets and providing such a valuable learning opportunity.

This week is the first ever National Cadet Week! At 2195 we are using this as a chance to celebrate the young people who challenge themselves, support others, and strive to be the very best they can be.

Meet our cadets across all levels, right from the beginning of their cadet career!

Being a cadet is about much more than wearing a uniform. It is about developing confidence, initiative, discipline, resilience, and teamwork through experiences that push young people to the best of their abilities.

Thank you to all our cadets, volunteers, parents, and supporters for making these opportunities possible and helping shape the leaders of tomorrow.

On Tuesday evening, Cadet Warrant Officer Oliver Wright attended the Lord Lieutenant Awards in Derby, where he was officially appointed as Derbyshire’s Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet.

This incredible role recognises the commitment, leadership and service of a cadet, and involves representing the Lord Lieutenant at a range of official events and engagements throughout the year.

We are incredibly proud of CWO Wright and this fantastic achievement, we look forward to seeing him flourish in the role!

“It’s humbling to be announced as Derbyshires Lord Lieutenants Cadet 26/27.
It’s been a journey, but this is the result of many other people sacrifices. I am a product of my environment and this wouldn’t have been possible without the support of staff, cadets, NCOs, and family.
I thank those especially that attended the investing for their direct support, and I look forward to joining Ma’am in ceremonial duties this year.
A rare opportunity, that Im proud to champion 2195 Squadron, the county, however the wider RAFAC.”

We are so proud of CWO Wright and look forward to seeing where the role takes him over his tenure.
