⚽🍻 Staying up for the World Cup?

With many matches kicking off late at night and continuing into the early hours, it's easy to lose track of how much alcohol you've consumed while cheering on your team.

What many people don't realise is that alcohol doesn't disappear when you go to sleep. Depending on how much you've had to drink, it can still be affecting you the next morning, leaving you over the legal limit and unfit to drive.
Before you set off, take a moment to think:

🚗 Could alcohol still be in my system?
🚗 Am I completely confident I'm safe and legal to drive?
🚗 Would I be putting myself or others at risk?

If you're planning to enjoy the football, consider choosing alcohol-free alternatives or arranging your transport in advance. A little planning can help you avoid a costly mistake and, more importantly, keep everyone safe.
The final whistle may have blown, but the effects of alcohol can last much longer.
Enjoy the football, support your team, and make sure the next day's journey is a safe one.

LET'S CALL THEM WHAT THEY ARE – COLLISIONS, NOT ACCIDENTS
The word "accident" suggests something unavoidable, something that simply happened by chance.
The reality is very different.
Over 95% of road traffic collisions are caused by human error – the choices people make behind the wheel. These collisions are not random events. They are often the result of decisions that could and should have been avoided.

Speeding.
Using a mobile phone.
Driving under the influence of drink or drugs.
Not wearing a seatbelt.
Careless or reckless driving.

These are known as the Fatal 5 and they continue to be the leading causes of death and serious injury on our roads.
Every time a driver chooses to speed, check a message, drive impaired, ignore a seatbelt, or drive carelessly, they increase the risk not only to themselves but to every other road user around them.
If we want to reduce the number of families devastated by road trauma, we must start by recognising the truth:
Collisions are rarely accidents. They are usually the consequence of poor choices.
The good news is that better choices save lives.
Slow down
Put the phone away
Never drink or drug drive
Always wear a seatbelt
Drive with care and attention

Together, we can make Northern Ireland's roads safer for everyone.
Working Together Saves Lives.

One on of final 25/26 Academic year presentations. Roll on 26/27

As we approach the end of the 25/26 school year we are finishing up our New Driver Presentations. Over 100 schools visited this year again. Yesterday PCSP along with NI Road Policing and Safety were delighted to deliver the New Driver NI presentation yesterday to the Year 13 pupils at Banbridge Academy. Each pupil also received a New Driver book.

Big thanks to Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon PCSP who ensured all year 13 and 14 pupils in their council area received a free copy of the New Driver magazine

We wish all pupils a lifetime of safe driving.

Thanks to all our sponsors CRASH Services. JMK Solicitors. Used Cars NI. AB&C Insurance and Drivetech.

26/27 we are looking forward to doing it all over again.

Those of a certain age will remember the words “Care Courtesy and Consideration on the roads saves lives” on the back cover of the old blue licence. The licence has seen many changes since then but the words are as true today as they were then.

We were delighted to meet with members of the Greyabbey and District Community and Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) on Saturday to mark the continuation of a very special legacy within the local community.
Since 2008, the CPLC had organised an annual primary school quiz competition, with participating schools competing for the prestigious Susan Falkingham Memorial Trophy. The trophy was established in memory of Susan Falkingham, a much-loved Community Police Officer who sadly passed away. The quiz served as a fitting tribute to Susan, whose dedication and commitment made her a highly respected and popular figure throughout the area.
Unfortunately, due to declining membership in recent years, the CPLC has been forced to close. However, committee members were determined that Susan’s memory should continue to be honoured. They therefore approached Road Safe NI Charity to ask whether the Susan Falkingham Memorial Trophy could be incorporated into our annual Primary School Road Safety Quiz for the Ards and North Down area.
We were honoured to accept this generous offer and are proud to ensure that Susan’s legacy will continue to inspire and educate future generations of young people.
Pictured below are Norman Willis, former Chair of Greyabbey and District CPLC; Mrs Rosemary Falkingham and Mr Neil Falkingham, Susan’s parents; June Braniff, who originally conceived the idea of the memorial quiz; Davy Jackson, Chair of Road Safe NI Charity; and Barbara Workman, Treasurer of the CPLC.
