Laween Saadi, Link Worker, and Silverliners were delighted to attend the APPG for ABI Reception in Parliament yesterday.

They received updates from Sir John Hayes MP, Chloe Hayward, Jennifer Misak, and then had a discussion / question and answer session. Sir Chris Bryant MP also spoke briefly.

The long awaited Acquired Brain Injury Action Plan, which the government had intended to publish by the end of June, is now expected in autumn this year. The delay is because of recent changes in government.

However, it was clear that everyone in the room was united and determined to see the publication, in order to improve the quality of life for brain injury survivors.

Please sign the following open letter to urge the government to publish the plan:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScNQMi_me0-aIZk9uCkeve1OlvZOA9SDmX9iCw7sSkMszRemw/viewform

Please write to your MP and ask them to support the publication of the plan. You can find your MP at the following webpage:

https://members.parliament.uk/FindYourMP

We’re at the final hurdle and we must stand united.

The ABI Action Plan will cover four main areas:
- Data and research
- Awareness and training
- Access to Rehabilitation
- Living with ABI

Once it’s published, the panel will scrutinise it and ensure it is fit for purpose. Everyone looks forward to the next stages.

Many thanks to all the panel including the United Kingdom Acquired Brain Injury Forum and to everyone who is committed to helping brain injury survivors.
