The Mandir (temple) in Kingsbury is the principal Mandir in the south of England of Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan – the worldwide centre for spiritual, cultural and social welfare, based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The Organisation was founded by Jeevanpran Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa, the founding Acharya of Shree Swaminarayan Gadi – the divine office of Lord Shree Swaminarayan. Wh

ile principally a place of worship, the Mandir and surrounding facilities that make up Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Complex play host to a range of cultural, artistic, sporting, educational and charitable activities, all inspired by His Divine Holiness Acharya Swamishree Purushottampriyadasji Maharaj, the current sovereign of Shree Swaminarayan Gadi. As well as being the reverential leader of many thousands of people around the world, Acharya Swamishree Maharaj is acclaimed as being the "Ultimate Humanitarian" due to the charitable projects that He has instigated. He has inspired the establishment of numerous centres around the world, akin to the Mandir in Kingsbury. The Mandir will be inaugurated during a magnificent festival in August 2014 in the divine presence of Acharya Swamishree Maharaj. From shopping for ingredients, to cooking the meals and helping with distribution, our Gujarati Class and Cooking Class children were involved every step of the way in this month’s homeless feeding initiative.

It gave the children the chance to contribute meaningfully to their community, learning the importance of kindness, teamwork and selfless service while embracing the principle of Society Before Self inspired by Prem Murti Bapa.

Thank you to all the children, volunteers and supporters who helped make this possible. Special thanks to Kingsbury Fruit & Veg for generously donating the vegetables used in the meals. 🙏🏻

“Madrupmiti Madvani” - My words are My Murti - Lord Shree Swaminarayan

The sacred Shikshapatri is a divine, priceless jewel among all scriptures, personally written by Lord Shree Swaminarayan for the upliftment and eternal benefit of every soul.

This holy manuscript, presented by the Lord Himself to Sir John Malcolm and lovingly preserved at Oxford University’s Bodleian Library, will grace Kingsbury Mandir for darshan from Thursday 20th August 2026 to Tuesday 25th August 2026. Bodleian Libraries

Comprising 212 verses, the Shikshapatri distils the essence of more than 350 ancient scriptures, offering timeless guidance for living an honest, ethical, compassionate, and spiritually centred life. Every instruction is the Lord’s direct command - a pathway to purity, peace, and ultimate liberation.

This is Lord Shree Swaminarayan’s supreme gift to humanity: a scripture written for the universal benefit of all souls - Sarva jeev hitavaha Shikshapatri.

212 shloks. Countless moments of devotion.

Over the past few months, devotees have carefully engraved all 212 shloks of the Shikshapatri through pyrotechnic wood burning. A seva that’s given everyone the chance to reflect on Lord Swaminarayan’s teachings and stay focused on Him. These are not merely letters on wood, but pledges to take one step forward in one’s spiritual journey towards God.

This turned into a beautiful collective effort, with our Bapa and the sants also joining in. It was truly inspiring to see them take part alongside everyone.

As stated in Shlok 209 “Madrupmiti Madvani”, My words are My Murti. The five days of celebrations in August will welcome not only the Shikshapatri back home, but Lord Swaminarayan Himself to Kingsbury Mandir. 🙏
