From its humble beginning in the remote Indian village of Qadian, the AMC was established as an Islamic reformist movement in1889. The community was founded by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (peace be upon him), who claimed to be the chosen Imam (Imam Mahdi) and the Messiah awaited by followers of the world's great monotheistic religions. Among his key teachings were peace, human dignity and universal respect. Since the death of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad in 1908, the AMC has been headed by five visionary Caliphs (Khulafa al-Masih, meaning representatives of the Messiah) in what currently stands as the longest standing and largest Caliphate in the world. The present caliph is Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad who resides close to London's oldest Mosque, Masjid Fazl. Today, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad travels the world promoting peace and advising heads of state and leading global thinker on the path to absolute justice.
