Children are both carriers of heritage and creators of the future.
As is tradition with The Tagoreans’ ANANDA MELA, we are delighted to present a number of talented young performers at this year’s event who will kick off our cultural performances at the Mela. Let’s meet them all briefly…
🌸Meet **Aalolika**, an enthusiastic 8-year-old performer who loves acting, singing and reciting poetry. She is a voracious reader of storybooks and has a special love for literature—often choosing a good book over screen time! Aalolika is no stranger to **Tagoreans’ Anandamela**, having performed on this wonderful stage three times before. She is delighted to return once again and share her love of performing with everyone at Anandamela 2026.
🌼Nirvaan Dutta is a bright and creative 9-year-old with a wide range of interests. He has a keen passion for drawing, particularly sketching birds and cartoon characters, where he enjoys bringing his imagination to life.
Outside of art, Nirvaan loves playing football and enjoys the challenge and strategy of chess. He can spend hours building things with Lego or solving a puzzle. He is also an enthusiastic reader who loves exploring new stories and ideas through books. He has ears for good music and has recently started taking a deeper interest in it.
🌸Samaira Suchi Andaleeb is a Year 5 student at Brookland Junior School in Hampstead Garden Suburb. Her parents, Suchismita Ganguly and Shobhon Ahmed, are eminent performers in classical dance and vocal music respectively, and are well-known cultural figures in London. Both have been associated with The Tagoreans over many years and across a number of path-breaking productions in India and the UK.
Samaira began ballet at the age of four and recently achieved a Distinction in her Grade 3 examination with the Royal Academy of Dance. She studies Bharatanatyam under her mother and Suchismita's guru, Smt Girija Balagopal, and has performed the role of Sita in her dance school's production of the Ramayana. She also learns Rabindrasangeet from her father. A keen pianist, painter and crocheter, she speaks fluent Bengali, her first language.
🌼Shanvi Chakraborty is a talented and cheerful eight years old. She is currently studying in Year 4. Her hobbies include reading, writing, and singing. She is deeply connected to her culture and takes great pride in it. For the past two years, she has been learning Bengali songs, which has helped her develop her love for music and her cultural heritage. She will be performing at Ananda Mela for the first time and The Tagoreans are delighted to have her.
Aalolika, Nirvaan, Samaira and Shanvi will be enthralling us with their performances in the Mela on Saturday 12 September. A huge thanks to Alina Chakraborty, Arka Mukhopadhyay, Payel Dutta, Kolan Attud, Suchismita Ganguly, Shobhon Ahmed and Carolyn Gomes for having facilitated this entire segment.
Do please come to encourage and motivate these delightful young talents as well as to be amazed and charmed at the sincerity and excellence of their performances at the Ananda Mela on Saturday 12 September …
