CONFLUENCE: Rabi and Salil

On: 2nd November 2025
Time: 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM
At: The Bhavan, London

Come and join us in celebrating our landmark 60th birth anniversary through an exciting and innovative presentation of songs and dances, paying tribute to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, whilst commemorating the birth centenary of celebrated Indian composer Salil Chowdhury.

Rabindranath and Salil Chowdhury – or ‘Rabi’ & ‘Salil’ - were hugely impactful and influential in their times: both were lyricists and composers par excellence - masters of innovation, experimentation and effortless fusion. They both broke down the barriers imposed by the rigid structures and forms of classical musical styles and created their very own and unique musical genres that have remained popular through the years. Both Rabi & Salil were themselves influenced by global music traditions, nuances of which can be heard in some of their most distinctive compositions and in their rich and varied musical legacy, which has in turn influenced and inspired singers, composers, musicians and the wider population through the years.

Moreover, both Rabi & Salil were leading advocates and activists for social and cultural change in their times – protesting against oppression and injustice, uniting the masses towards a common cause and elevating public consciousness through their powerful use of poetry and melody that is both popular and relevant till today.

‘Confluence: Rabi & Salil’ is a humble tribute by the Tagoreans to both of these great maestros as we explore the poetic, lyrical, philosophical and stylistic similarities and differences between some of the iconic and timeless compositions of these two Indian musical legends – Rabi and Salil.

The programme is going to be curated in English and will feature a number of highly proficient performers from the UK and India, led on stage by Aniruddha Kumar Ghoshal (Sasha), one of the most versatile and established Tagore performers in the field of music and theatre in London today.

Tickets are with reserved seating and are being issued out on a first come first served basis. We strongly encourage you to buy your tickets early to guarantee the best seats.
