🎢 38 YEARS OF COASTER CRAZINESS! 🎢
On this day in 1988 (11th August), The Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain was founded - and today celebrates 38 years of uniting roller coaster enthusiasts.
Since 1988, the Club has organised more than 200 events at amusement parks around the world, resulting in thousands of park admissions and countless friendships, memories and, of course, coaster rides!
Over the years the Club had raised £1000s for various charities and I’ve also championed causes close to enthusiasts’ hearts. Our famous “Real Coasters Are Made of Wood” campaign helped encourage the installation of a wooden coaster to Alton Towers with WickerMan, while our more recent “USE THEM OR LOSE THEM” campaign encourages enthusiasts to support smaller, family-run and independent parks - something increasingly important following the loss of several UK parks.
The Club and all events have been organised by Andy Hine since its formation in 1988 and continues to be run as a non-profit organisation, simply for the love of roller coasters, amusement parks and the people who enjoy them.
Here’s to many more years of riding together!
WOOD IS GOOD!
