What a fantastic night at The Mall Tavern in Notting Hill! 🎶🍻

A huge thank you to Andy and everyone at The Mall Tavern, for looking after us so well, and to everyone who came along, listened, sang, laughed and helped make the evening such great fun.

Big thanks too to our musical team, Wyn and Chris, to Mark for doing such a great job compering the evening, to our glamorous helpers, John H for organising and of course to all the boys for bringing so much energy to the performance. 👏🎵

We absolutely loved singing for you all. A relaxed, lively and thoroughly enjoyable evening- exactly what these gigs are all about.

A fantastic first rehearsal back for the new choir term! 🎶

It was brilliant to be back together, with Wyn and Chris leading us through a great mix of music, including Can’t Help Falling in Love, Myfanwy, Adele, Pilgrim’s Chorus, the Cole Porter Medley and plenty more besides.

It was also a lovely opportunity to say a very well-deserved thank you to Steve Davies, with our Chairman Richard Hopkin presenting him with a small gift from the boys in appreciation of all his hard work organising our fantastic Germany tour. 🇩🇪

The tour was an absolute resounding success and everyone had such a brilliant time- the hotel, the breakfasts, the company and, of course, the concerts themselves, which were absolutely fantastic.

A huge thank you to Steve for all the time, effort and organisation that went into making the trip such a memorable one for everyone. Very much appreciated by all of us! 👏

🇩🇪 What a night in Wissen! 🎶

Last night’s 3rd European Orchestra Festival was a fantastic success and another real highlight of our German tour.

The sound in the venue was superb, with a brilliant sound team helping everything come together beautifully for all the musicians.

There were some great moments throughout the evening too. IRM certainly got everyone involved, with the percussion section keeping the audience clapping firmly in time- and even a selection of shakers making their way into the hands of the Gwalia boys! 🪇🍍🍌

After our own set, we joined German Winds for Let It Be Me- and managed to capture some great photos from the stage looking out across the performers and audience.

A wonderful evening of music alongside German Winds, Cantando and Polizeimusik Oberösterreich, followed by excellent food, plenty of good company and a suitably sociable end to the night. 🍻

A huge thank you to and everyone who organised the festival, looked after us so well and gave us such a warm welcome.

And some special Gwalia thanks too: to Steve Davies, who did so much to organise the tour for us; to Wyn and Chris, our musical team, for all their hard work; and to our friends from LWMVC and LWRCC who joined us for the trip and helped make the weekend so special.

🇩🇪 Another lovely day on tour- and another big concert ahead! 🎶

Last night’s concert was a real success and the boys thoroughly enjoyed both the performance and the excellent company afterwards.

Today has been a chance to explore a little more, enjoy some food and drink and spend time together before tonight’s event in Wissen.

This evening, Côr Meibion Gwalia will be performing at the 3rd European Orchestra Festival alongside German Winds, Cantando and Polizeimusik Oberösterreich, in support of Der Wünschewagen.

Everyone is looking forward to another memorable evening of music.

🇩🇪 The Cologne 2026 tour is underway! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

The Côr Meibion Gwalia boys have arrived safely in Germany and made the most of their first day- taking in Cologne, enjoying some good German food and naturally, sampling a few beers alongside a few songs! 🍻🎶

Tonight we’re heading to Siegburg for the Benefiz Orchester Festival, where we’ll be performing alongside our hosts German Winds, Cantando from Portsmouth and Polizeimusik Quintett from Austria.

A great start to the tour, with plenty more music- and no doubt a few more Kölsch- still to come! 🇩🇪🎶🍻

🎉 Llongyfarchiadau mawr, Jane! 🎉

Côr Meibion Gwalia sends our warmest congratulations to our former accompanist Jane Watts, who has been admitted to Gorsedd Cymru at this year's National Eisteddfod, Eisteddfod y Garreg Las in Pembrokeshire.

Jane was Gwalia's accompanist from 1981 to 1986, before going on to an outstanding international career as an organist.

Jane was the first Welsh woman to give an organ recital at the Royal Festival Hall and later became the first woman to serve as organist and accompanist of the Bach Choir under Sir David Willcocks.

Jane received Y Wisg Werdd – the Green Robe – in recognition of her contribution to the arts.

We're very proud that Jane is part of Gwalia's musical history and delighted to see her receive such a wonderful and well-deserved honour.

🇩🇪 We’re off to Cologne! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Not long to go now until Côr Meibion Gwalia heads to Germany for our 2026 tour!

We’ll be hosted in Cologne by our wonderful friends at German Winds, and will be performing alongside them and Cantando Female Voice Choir from Portsmouth.

Really looking forward to a few days of singing, music, good company, and no doubt a few Kölsch along the way! 🍻

🎉 Happy 90th Birthday, Major Paul! 🎉

On Monday evening, members of Côr Meibion Gwalia had the pleasure of visiting Major Paul at the Royal Star & Garter Home in Surbiton, Surrey, to celebrate his 90th birthday. It was a wonderful evening of singing, sharing memories and catching up with an old friend of the choir.

Paul joined the Gwalia in the 1980s after spotting a small advert in the back window of a car outside a hotel in Paddington. He went on to become a mainstay of the bass section and served as the choir's Treasurer for 13 years.

Those who sang alongside Paul will remember his love of Gilbert and Sullivan, his entertaining renditions of Have Some Madeira, M'Dear? by Flanders and Swann, and, on occasion, the Hong Kong National Anthem. Along with his warmth and friendship, these are just some of the memories that have made him such a valued member of the Gwalia family.

It was a joy to celebrate this special birthday together and from all your friends at Côr Meibion Gwalia, we wish you a very happy 90th birthday, Paul. Here's to many more happy memories! 💚🎶
