A very happy birthday to our wonderful friends Mark (B2) and Dave (B1) 🎉

Dave is a long-serving legend of the choir- a cornerstone for decades, including many years as Gwalia’s Secretary. An incredible contribution that speaks for itself.

Mark is a firm part of the fabric of the bass section- great fun, kind, often cracking the backs of the boys as our resident osteopath, and never far from his next fly fishing adventure 🎣

It was great to celebrate with them both after rehearsal, sharing food (thank you Nicola) and a drink upstairs at the London Welsh Centre following a brilliant evening’s singing as we prepare for our tour to Germany later this year.

Thank you both for the drinks- and more importantly, for your friendship and everything you bring to Côr Meibion Gwalia. 💚

Our sincere thanks to Gareth Thomas MP for organising and hosting the occasion and to the MPs and peers who joined us and were so welcoming and generous with their time afterwards.

We'd like to celebrate a very special milestone for one of our own- Rod’s 70th birthday! 🥳

A Second Bass in Côr Meibion Gwalia and a proud Scotsman in our Welsh ranks, Rod beautifully embodies the spirit of friendship and unity that music brings. He is proof that harmony and a shared love of song know no borders. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Many moons ago, Rod first encountered the sound of the Gwalia while watching the choir perform at a South London venue. Inspired by what he heard, he chose to join us and we have been richer for it ever since.

As a member of the committee and organiser of many of our concerts, Rod goes to extraordinary lengths behind the scenes. His meticulous planning, sharp eye for detail and steady commitment help ensure that every event runs seamlessly and that everyone involved enjoys the very best experience.

Dependable, thoughtful and quietly dedicated, Rod is a true gentleman and a greatly valued friend to us all.

Rod, thank you for everything you give. Here is to you and to many more years of music, camaraderie and magnificent bass lines ahead.

As part of Wales Week London 2026, Côr Meibion Gwalia welcomes you to the London Welsh Centre at 7pm on Wednesday 4 March for an open rehearsal, celebrating the great choral tradition of Wales. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

If you enjoy Welsh music, the power of male voice harmony, or would simply like to experience the sound of Cymru at close quarters, do come and sit in for the evening.

Whether you are Welsh, have Welsh roots, or are simply curious, you will be warmly welcomed. 🎶

We were genuinely touched by this generous mention in The Telegraph following our recent evening at the Mall Tavern, Notting Hill. The Mall Tavern

Huge thanks to Andy and the whole team and to everyone who came along. Not just for listening downstairs, but for the chats before the singing, during the interval and especially afterwards when we came back upstairs for a few beers.

We loved the curiosity, the questions and the warmth and just spending time with everyone. It was a really fun friendly night and a proper pleasure to be part of it.

Welsh male voice singing has always been about more than performance- it is about singing together, sharing the moment and enjoying each other’s company and meeting the people who make it fun; evenings like this remind us why intimate characterful venues like the Mall Tavern feel so special.

Diolch yn fawr to everyone we met as it was an absolute joy!

A few of us got together over a lovely curry to start the new year, reflect on last year’s highlights and look ahead to the musical events coming up in 2026.

Great food, plenty of laughter and good company. Nights like this remind us that singing brings us together, but it’s the shared sense of warmth and camaraderie that really makes us a community.
