Since October 2023, the ironclad embrace of US imperialism and Zionism have been made starkly clear - culminating in the joint US-Israeli assault on Iran from February this year.

But what has also become clear is the importance of the Gulf monarchies to the projects of imperialism and Zionism in the region, with states like the UAE and Bahrain spending the last 30 months of genocide openly aligning themselves with Israel and US interests, enthusiastically supporting their war on Iran, and serving as part of Israel’s frontline defence from attack.

In light of the Gaza genocide expanding to a regional war with the assault on Iran, this teach in, hosted by the South Asians for Palestine coalition, will connect how the Gulf monarchies underpin Israeli militarism and US imperialism in the region, are themselves underwritten by the massive exploitation of South Asian (and other) migrant labour, and have used their position as partners of imperialism to export violence to places like Sudan, Yemen and beyond.

Last Saturday’s National Housing Demonstration:
Calling for rent controls and the building of more truly affordable homes.

We will continue to fight developers that seek to further gentrify areas our communities have built and call for building more council homes, not shopping centres, gated office blocks and a data centre.

Next week: Tuesday 28th April - join us outside the town hall from 5pm, to tell the council to cut ✂️ their contract with Mears which puts profit before people.

Download our pamphlet on political prisoners - bringing together contributions from our 2024 teach-in, “They Cannot Extinguish the Moon” Political Prisoners from South Asia to Palestine - updated and republished to mark Palestinian Prisoners’ Day on 17th April.

With the passage of Israel’s ‘Death Penalty law’ in April 2026, solidarity with Palestinian prisoners takes on a new urgency. Adding another page to Israel’s ever-growing catalogue of administrative atrocities, the law mandates the ex*****on of - Palestinian - prisoners in the occupied West Bank within 90 days of being convicted of ‘terrorism’ by the occupation’s military courts. These have a 99% conviction rate for Palestinians.

Additionally, this pamphlet has been re-produced in solidarity with the Brize Norton 5. They are a group of young people currently in prison on remand for allegedly breaking into RAF Brize Norton in the summer of 2025 and spraying two warplanes with red paint. The RAF base facilitates surveillance flights over Gaza, providing the ‘Israeli’ army with intelligence, as well as refuelling of fighter jets and the transportation of weapons to ‘Israel’. By the time of their trial in January 2027, they will have been in prison for a total of 18 months.

On 20th April we’ll be hosting a screening and discussion of the film ‘Chittagong’ to mark the anniversary of the Chittagong Armoury Raid which took place in April 1930 in modern-day Bangladesh.

Inspired by the 1916 Easter Rising in occupied Ireland, the Chittagong Armoury Raid was a daring attempt by a group calling themselevs the ‘Indian Republican Army’ to seize arms from colonial armouries, sever communications links between colonial authorities and Chittagong, and to advanced militant struggle against the British in India.

The film retells the story of the raid from the perspective of one of its youngest protagonists who, alongside other militants, would go on to participate in India’s communist movement.

1971 Bangladesh war of independence. Mass march in London in support of independence.

These images, sourced from Report Digital’s archive, show a mass march in London in April 1971, where thousands gathered in support of Bangladesh’s independence, carrying portraits of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

They reflect how the Liberation War was not only fought in Bangladesh, but supported across the world.
The Bangladeshi community in the UK organised mass rallies, raised funds, and backed the Mukti Bahini (armed guerrilla resistance movement) from abroad.
